i have the biggest apartment i've ever had all to myself but i still only have a bed and a coffee table (more like plant table. daisy and the herbs live there). i think i need to buy a vacuum today because waiting for a free one is not working.

te,he (tehresa), Saturday, 11 July 2009 19:41 (fourteen years ago) link

yes this will be the biggest apt i've ever had! i can't believe how long i spent in my last apartment with it being so tiny but i sort of enjoyed it sometimes

i had a mini shopvac that i bought with my lexisnexis points and it was TERRIBLE. it picked up some things, and it looked sort of clean, but there was still always my hair all over the place and the wheels would fall off if you picked it up, and it of course doesn't have a bag. i hate how expensive real vacuums are. anyway don't buy a small shopvac even though it seems like an attractive option (cheap)

how long does it take to get internet set up? i recall in rochester waiting for 23 days without internet because of big fall rush, and then in columbus it was no problem at all (though i called a month ahead i think), but i don't know what's normal. i guess i'll wait until i sign the lease at least.

spite n ease (harbl), Saturday, 11 July 2009 20:29 (fourteen years ago) link

i had to wait a week from when i ordered til it was supposed to be activated but then it didn't actually get activated til 5 days later so... week and a half to two weeks? rochester was always super slow with the hookups.

te,he (tehresa), Saturday, 11 July 2009 20:32 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah i have been putting off the vacuum purchase bc they are so $$$$$$ but now i feel like i can not wait any longer.

te,he (tehresa), Saturday, 11 July 2009 20:33 (fourteen years ago) link

yay! he already said i can have it! :))))))))))

smoove operator, Sunday, 12 July 2009 04:54 (fourteen years ago) link

now i have to find a fax!

te,he (tehresa), Monday, 13 July 2009 20:15 (fourteen years ago) link

There's a FedEx\Kinko's above the Metropolitan Market on Mercer!

jaq, Monday, 13 July 2009 20:19 (fourteen years ago) link

:D

i thought i remembered a ups store on roy, but i'll just go there! thanks!

te,he (tehresa), Monday, 13 July 2009 20:23 (fourteen years ago) link

a ups store on roy

Yes! There is - it would be closer. I always forget about that building, it was still being built when I lived there so somehow doesn't quite exist in my mental universe.

jaq, Monday, 13 July 2009 20:44 (fourteen years ago) link

if i were you i'd go to the one above met-ma just to have an excuse to go to met-ma

lxy, Monday, 13 July 2009 20:53 (fourteen years ago) link

i went to the one above met-ma but i did not go to met-ma why bc it is $$$$

te,he (tehresa), Monday, 13 July 2009 21:45 (fourteen years ago) link

yes. i love it very much, though.

that's where i buy my fancy soap! fortunately my fancy soap lasts long, long time.

lxy, Monday, 13 July 2009 21:52 (fourteen years ago) link

what kind?

when i first got here i bought a fancy cheese. rosemary asiago. it was so good. so $$$. i can't buy it anymore.

te,he (tehresa), Monday, 13 July 2009 21:52 (fourteen years ago) link

I used to buy giant expensive olives there, when it was Larry's. Grandiose Cerignola. Also, v. spendy butter. Those were the days.

jaq, Monday, 13 July 2009 22:05 (fourteen years ago) link

walked by new apt on the way to the library. so exciting!!!! it's 2 doors down from a gay bar though am i gonna be kept awake by gay every night?

spite n ease (harbl), Monday, 13 July 2009 22:16 (fourteen years ago) link

lol @ kept awake by gay

you'll probably be ok

it's not the hippo is it?

te,he (tehresa), Monday, 13 July 2009 22:18 (fourteen years ago) link

nonono i am smart enough not to live by the hippo! it looks like a more quiet bar, not a "club"

spite n ease (harbl), Monday, 13 July 2009 22:25 (fourteen years ago) link

is it wrong that i'm a little disappointed?
i don't know why but the hippo has fascinated me ever since

eman i meant to ask you about this - i had an acct at work for the HIPPO CLUB in baltimore. it is for the gays. do you go there often?

it is for the gays. do you go there often?

that's like asking "do you still beat your wife?"

well if it makes you feel better i live 2 blocks from the hippo tbh. if i had known you were so interested we could have had our fap there!

spite n ease (harbl), Monday, 13 July 2009 22:46 (fourteen years ago) link

so disappointed.
next time!!!
lol.

te,he (tehresa), Monday, 13 July 2009 22:48 (fourteen years ago) link

ok stu4rt called me today and it's on. i got a little scared because the co-application thing took so long in the mail but we're good. AND since i'm not moving in until 2 weeks after the other girl (also a lawyer) moves out, i get new carpet! i'd rather have no carpet at all but you can't have everything. can't wait to be in my new place with no furniture! might have my brother come down and help me move bc he is bored and unemployed so maybe we can get some furniture with the car. like a table and stuff.

spite n ease (harbl), Sunday, 19 July 2009 21:32 (fourteen years ago) link

i also joined freecycle baltimore yahoo group

spite n ease (harbl), Sunday, 19 July 2009 21:37 (fourteen years ago) link

oh you lucky girl! they mentioned maybe putting new carpet in mine, but they just cleaned it instead.
are you gonna build a fort?

te,he (tehresa), Sunday, 19 July 2009 21:50 (fourteen years ago) link

maybe....how do you build a fort without furniture? i will spend some time in the loft probably. but i should get a tv for that.

spite n ease (harbl), Monday, 20 July 2009 00:02 (fourteen years ago) link

with the moving boxes, duh!

te,he (tehresa), Monday, 20 July 2009 00:08 (fourteen years ago) link

haha, yes. i am also considering knitting a new blanket for a housewarming gift for myself. since i ruined my comforter by washing it according to the instructions. maybe like this but not a baby blanket obv http://brooklyntweed.blogspot.com/2009/07/tweed-baby-blanket-pattern-now.html

spite n ease (harbl), Monday, 20 July 2009 00:15 (fourteen years ago) link

is there a baltimore tweed?
like the brash, tweedy impertinence of detective freamon?

te,he (tehresa), Monday, 20 July 2009 00:24 (fourteen years ago) link

i am so jealous of ppl who can knit!!!!

smoove operator, Monday, 20 July 2009 00:39 (fourteen years ago) link

trust me, if i can do it anyone can. i am getting better at it but i never finish anything. but perhaps if i had a real purpose such as a bed covering i could finish it.

spite n ease (harbl), Monday, 20 July 2009 00:53 (fourteen years ago) link

smoove it seems like it would be right up your alley. i mean if you're interested in making books you'd probably be interested in making knitted goods, i think that's how it goes.

spite n ease (harbl), Monday, 20 July 2009 00:54 (fourteen years ago) link

for some reason i think the knit stuff looks cool but i've never been inspired to take it up.

te,he (tehresa), Monday, 20 July 2009 00:57 (fourteen years ago) link

my friend made these two for wedding presents, they're nice but i don't like round blankets and they are too lacy and old-fashioned—looking for my taste (bc i am always up to date)

when my mum tried to teach i just couldn't get it. i'm not very coordinated.

smoove operator, Monday, 20 July 2009 01:03 (fourteen years ago) link

round blankets are useless

jergins, Monday, 20 July 2009 01:06 (fourteen years ago) link

oh neither am i--i first learned like 6 years ago and was so bad at it, i kept forgetting how and starting stuff over because i didn't know how to fix mistakes but in the past year or so i'm getting better. starting is a big hurdle but after you get knit and purl down you can do anything: cabling, lace, etc. anything! the possibilities are *endless* xp

spite n ease (harbl), Monday, 20 July 2009 01:07 (fourteen years ago) link

hey it's jergins being otm

spite n ease (harbl), Monday, 20 July 2009 01:07 (fourteen years ago) link

when is he not?

only about house plants, i think.

te,he (tehresa), Monday, 20 July 2009 01:09 (fourteen years ago) link

i have a huge, huge, huge afghan my great-grandmother crocheted. theresa might have seen it when she was here but i didn't point it out. it's bright neon orange, puke green, and yellow. she used to just crank them out but was really tacky (greek) so she made interesting color choices. it's also acrylic so it will never be destroyed.

spite n ease (harbl), Monday, 20 July 2009 01:09 (fourteen years ago) link

the yellow is not really yellow, it's more "mustard"
