Marcello, i fully expect them to do so, next time EMI need their coffers swelling i expect you'll get each album loving remastered on a slow painful drip feed.
after all, surely this Love (which does sound fantastic) is the beginning of the process as they must have revisited each master.

What's the betting that they start with the 40th Anniversary Remastered Reissue of Sgt Pepper next June?

Is it true that before George Harrison died the three remaining Beatles were going to sample John's voice to create a cover of "Two Princes"?

You don't want to believe everything Danny Baker says.

Although I believe the story about George and Eric deciding who was going to get Patti by means of a guitar cutting contest may have some faint basis in fact.

Neil Aspinall already announced that the albums are being remastered and will also be available for download, and that Love was the first step in this process, back when Love was first announced a few months ago. I don't know when they're planning to get around to it, but they did at least finally say it out loud.

Of course they also said Let it Be would be out on DVD two years ago.

All right, can't wait to download 128k rips of those remasters from iTunes.

I'm with Geir on this one. The track I heard was Lady Madonna, and I could have sworn I heard the guitar part from Hey Bulldog inserted into the song. I found this horrifying, as Hey Bulldog is one of my fave Beatles songs and Lady Madonna uh...isn't. Just cannot figure out why anyone would think tampering with Beatles songs like that is a good idea. Leave it alone, for crying out loud!

"no-one uses HDCD anymore"

That Neil Young fillmore album is HDCD. I think the continued use of the format is mainly a Warner Music Group thing.

SACD required specialized players (I think some of them also work with DVD players though), so HDCD is still valid for most listeners.

Most SACDs are dual layer discs with a normal redbook layer too.

My car CD player jumps all over the place even if you drive over a shadow.

However, the Nick Drake "Treasury" dualformat CD plays perfectly.

Odd, that.

Sounds not at all unlikely. I was a bit surprised they didn't do a 30th Anniversary one in 1997, considering "Anthology" and Britpop had given them a lot of publicity.

Geir Hongro (geirhong), Thursday, 30 November 2006 13:14 (seventeen years ago) link

Well, now Macca's gotta pay for a divorce, so it could happen. Besides, IIRC the disc that's out now was the 20th Anniversary edition.

C. Grisso/McCain (sandglocks), Thursday, 30 November 2006 23:10 (seventeen years ago) link

That is true. The release of the CD edition was 1. June 1987, exactly 20 years after the original album release.

However, 20 years is a long time and even though the remastering was very impressive state of the art work back in 1987, it still doesn't hold up today.

Geir Hongro (geirhong), Friday, 1 December 2006 03:00 (seventeen years ago) link

1987 was 19 years ago. Do-WEE!
