yeah i want to hear the jawbreaker story.

Dead Dylan Thomas (Party with me Punker), Thursday, 22 February 2007 19:13 (seventeen years ago) link

a friend (not gygax!) who lived in SF (mission and 20th) in the late 80s/early 90s lived in the same building as jawbreaker (they all lived together).

he hated them though, but i liked them, i still have some nostalgia for their SF-referential songs. he said they were nice neighbors but their band sucked (my friend was in a BlackJack noize band). i shyly peeked into their apartment once walking by and I saw a huge Led Zeppelin poster over the couch in the living room, a live picture of one of their early 70s shows I think.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 22 February 2007 19:16 (seventeen years ago) link

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 22 February 2007 19:25 (seventeen years ago) link

I still think that Schwarzenbach's vocals post-surgery sounds like processed Liz Phair, but no one ever agrees with me on this.

PPlains (PPlains), Thursday, 22 February 2007 19:26 (seventeen years ago) link

that wasn't really much of a story, Shasta

giboyojimbo (gbx), Thursday, 22 February 2007 19:39 (seventeen years ago) link

he neglected to mention the COLOSSAL SQUID toking up under the Zep poster

scary german latebloomer (clonefeed), Friday, 23 February 2007 03:43 (seventeen years ago) link

the first 3 songs on 24 hour revenge the rape-e are like super-catchy all-time pop-punk songs, the rest always flushes down my memory toilet

album-wise bivouac's prolly my fave. the rest is kinda meh. i can see why some people love em while others despise em.
