I think it's only version 7.1 which is being discontinued, the newer 7.5 is still free afaik http://free.grisoft.com/doc/avg-anti-virus-free/lng/us/tpl/v5 will have more info.

Yep, I upgraded 7.1 free to 7.5 free no problem.
