lxy, Monday, 22 June 2009 14:52 (fourteen years ago) link

i still have an annoying ringo starr song stuck in my head from my market visit this morning. i won't torture you by saying what it is.

lxy, Monday, 22 June 2009 14:54 (fourteen years ago) link

i hate dire straits with a passion, estela, so i feel yr pain

smoove operator, Monday, 22 June 2009 15:07 (fourteen years ago) link

my dad used to play that song so loud
childhood trauma

spite n ease (harbl), Monday, 22 June 2009 15:08 (fourteen years ago) link

i can't find a place to get my hair cut

spite n ease (harbl), Monday, 22 June 2009 16:41 (fourteen years ago) link

cut it yourself then post pix on stuff you made

lxy, Monday, 22 June 2009 17:08 (fourteen years ago) link

can't cut my own hair. i wish i could but it's really really thick and needs to be thinned out every time. also it is coarse. it's the worst hair ever. it's a true domestic outrage.

spite n ease (harbl), Monday, 22 June 2009 17:16 (fourteen years ago) link

your hair is pretty, harbl. it has a nice wave, iirc.

tehresa, Monday, 22 June 2009 17:26 (fourteen years ago) link

aw thx but it is just impossible

spite n ease (harbl), Monday, 22 June 2009 17:29 (fourteen years ago) link

why did you need me for the infinity symbol

max max max max, Monday, 22 June 2009 17:47 (fourteen years ago) link

i tend to cause more domestic outrage than feel it tbh

max max max max, Monday, 22 June 2009 17:47 (fourteen years ago) link

ari tends towards outrage, i tend toward outrageousness

max max max max, Monday, 22 June 2009 17:47 (fourteen years ago) link

xp max, because when i expressed a need for the therefore symbol, you provided it in a trice.

lxy, Monday, 22 June 2009 18:16 (fourteen years ago) link

we have a general understanding in our household: ytth doesn't like to clean and doesn't really care all that much about being slobby, except for once in awhile, and i am getting more neurotic about these matters as i get older. so whoever is most annoyed by something being dirty is the one who'll clean it. it works pretty well.

smoove operator, Monday, 22 June 2009 18:16 (fourteen years ago) link

domestic outrage this morning: ytth couldn't find his keys and i got snotty cuz he can NEVER find his keys so i sighed loudly and got up to help him look and then remembered that i put them in my handbag last night

smoove operator, Monday, 22 June 2009 18:17 (fourteen years ago) link

max max max max, Monday, 22 June 2009 18:31 (fourteen years ago) link

smoove operator, Monday, 22 June 2009 21:27 (fourteen years ago) link

kia kaha smoove.

estela, Tuesday, 23 June 2009 06:05 (fourteen years ago) link

on tuesday i missed the garbage truck because i thought it would always come at 11 pm and it came at 7:30. so i had to keep my garbage inside until today and i had a lid on it so the flies were manageable but when i went to tie it up it was the WORST garbage i have ever smelled, it smelled like a baby's diaper x10000, i thought i would pass out, i was gagging, it was unbelievable. i did get it outside but now the smell is still lingering even though i sprayed the garbage can with lysol. UGH what an outrage

spite n ease (harbl), Friday, 26 June 2009 23:06 (fourteen years ago) link

in other words, you took a very short trip to shanghai

lxy, Friday, 26 June 2009 23:19 (fourteen years ago) link

i am never going there

spite n ease (harbl), Friday, 26 June 2009 23:45 (fourteen years ago) link

gah sorry harbs.

buttimore (jergins), Saturday, 27 June 2009 00:00 (fourteen years ago) link

when i lived in japan i always knew when summer was at hand bcz our building's garbage would get the WORST fish stench. oh it'd get in my nose for hours, so awful

buttimore (jergins), Saturday, 27 June 2009 00:02 (fourteen years ago) link

Oh god the worst was living next to the live poultry store in bushwick my first summer in nyc. It was a hot one, with many 100 degree days, and with no a/c our options were a) stagnant 100 degree chicken air, or b)turn on fan & blow hot chicken breeze all over the room. On top of it, when the garbage truck came, the act of picking up the bags that had been cooking on the street all day and throwing them into the truck where they were mixed up with all the other hot trash would release this pugnant stench into the air that once woke me up and almost made me vomit it was so bad. What an outrage!

tehersa (tehresa), Saturday, 27 June 2009 00:31 (fourteen years ago) link

Lol pugnant? I don't know if I meant pungent or repugnant there but lol.

tehersa (tehresa), Saturday, 27 June 2009 00:34 (fourteen years ago) link

EW hot chicken breeze!

spite n ease (harbl), Saturday, 27 June 2009 00:51 (fourteen years ago) link

wait how is that different than the delicious aroma of chicken coming from your oven?

lxy, Saturday, 27 June 2009 01:44 (fourteen years ago) link

^vegetarian

buttimore (jergins), Saturday, 27 June 2009 01:49 (fourteen years ago) link

why don't you let a TOFURKEY rot in the fridge for a month then put it in the garbage and leave it out in the hot sun for a week

buttimore (jergins), Saturday, 27 June 2009 01:54 (fourteen years ago) link

wait, scratch that, you've done that before

buttimore (jergins), Saturday, 27 June 2009 01:55 (fourteen years ago) link

guffaw

lxy, Saturday, 27 June 2009 02:00 (fourteen years ago) link

Oh snap

It still wouldn't smell as bad as poultry I imagine. Something about animal flesh is just so prone to rancid stenchiness. Also remember that it was a live poultry store, so you got the smell of animal waste, too.

tehersa (tehresa), Saturday, 27 June 2009 02:48 (fourteen years ago) link

uh, ok, got it let's move on now, k?

lxy, Saturday, 27 June 2009 02:50 (fourteen years ago) link

Yeah, ok.

Btw not so much an outrage but a word to the wise: if you buy fat free brownie mix do not expect brownies but rather spongey chocolate rubber.

tehersa (tehresa), Saturday, 27 June 2009 03:01 (fourteen years ago) link

lol @ fat-free brownies!

spite n ease (harbl), Saturday, 27 June 2009 03:09 (fourteen years ago) link

I know, what a silly idea!

tehersa (tehresa), Saturday, 27 June 2009 03:10 (fourteen years ago) link

the locus of outrage is in the initial plan, not in the unsurprising result.

estela, Saturday, 27 June 2009 03:27 (fourteen years ago) link

Last night I found a slug on my lettuce! It was a little outrageous but I calmed down and took him outside to roam free.

(hi sandbox!)

Even after a good talking to and clear instructions on how a roomba would do it, the vacuum cleaner is still sitting forlornly out in the main room, just can't manage to put itself away in the closet.

jaq, Monday, 29 June 2009 03:38 (fourteen years ago) link

it is outraged

(hi jaq, welcome back, we missed you!)

lxy, Monday, 29 June 2009 04:18 (fourteen years ago) link

i discovered my 'last peeler you'll ever buy' in the trash can under a mound of vegetable peelings, and to add an extra layer of outrage it was my second last peeler you'll ever buy, my first last peeler you'll ever buy got thrown out the first week i owned it and i didn't realise in time.

(hi jaq!)

need to make an office jarbl! add your pro tips here.

toadstool might (tehresa), Wednesday, 31 August 2022 20:20 (one year ago) link

three weeks pass...

i have given up on jarbls and now use a sticky window thing to keep the fruit flies at bay. it is kind of gross and leaves glue on the window but it works for any type of fly.

spite n ease (harbl), Wednesday, 21 September 2022 11:49 (one year ago) link

also, after years of having an annual unannounced House Fly Week where tens of house flies appear out of nowhere, this year i had like 5 house flies total? not sure why; it is a mystery

spite n ease (harbl), Wednesday, 21 September 2022 11:51 (one year ago) link

5 all summer, i mean. house fly week was canceled.

spite n ease (harbl), Wednesday, 21 September 2022 11:51 (one year ago) link

there have been so damn many flies this year! and multiple varieties that i’ve never had invade my house before

knackered housecat, Wednesday, 21 September 2022 16:42 (one year ago) link

ten months pass...

i can’t turn the gas stove on in this apartment. i know how to, it is functioning, jergins can do it, i have turned gas stoves on in other places, but i just can’t make it stay lit. i even watched a fucking youtube video on how to turn on a gas stove. so if i want to cook anything, i have to get jergins to turn on the stove. if he isn’t home, i am not cooking.

i am outraged to the point of resignation.

lxy, Tuesday, 15 August 2023 11:25 (eight months ago) link

this is dreadful behaviour from your gas stove, i am outraged too

estela, Saturday, 19 August 2023 07:13 (eight months ago) link

hope jergins is not lording his gas power over you

so to speak
