Hmm, where exactly is this pub?

suzy artskooldisko (suzy artskooldisko), Thursday, 7 December 2006 17:20 (seventeen years ago) link

Roupell St.

I may be coming early. I'm not sure I can last out the day. I feel sick as a dog and obviously quite upset over other things.

I need a fucking drink, but my stomach still ain't gonna handle it.

:-(

masonic boom (kate), Thursday, 7 December 2006 17:26 (seventeen years ago) link

Roupell Street is what I thought. Kate, Have an invite to a Kiehl's thing within spitting distance of yr. office and they are offering minced pies (and a glass of champagne if one is drinking). I am going because of the FREE STUFF. I am thinking of going between 6 and 6.30 and then on to pub, or maybe grabbing food before pub as I will never eat pub Thai again.

suzy artskooldisko (suzy artskooldisko), Thursday, 7 December 2006 17:34 (seventeen years ago) link

Right, since nobody has suggested a bar for ATFAP, I suggest Hotshots from about 12ish on the Saturday. Unless there are other plans?

much_aldo_about_nothing (much_aldo_about_nothing), Thursday, 7 December 2006 18:03 (seventeen years ago) link

Not as far as I know, I emailed Ailsa my number earlier so we can sort something out. 12ish in Hotshots sounds fine to me though!

Colonel Poo (Colonel Poo), Thursday, 7 December 2006 18:06 (seventeen years ago) link

I'll mail my mobile number to anyone who wants it, the better to co-ordinate such matters, if yez want.

What are the groups? There's Chalet Poo, Chalet Noo, and Chalet Lixi-and-some-LJers.

xpost - never mind then.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 7 December 2006 18:07 (seventeen years ago) link

I have phone numbers galore now! teh_kit, Ward Fowler, Colonel Poo (who is now in my phone as Colonel Poo, if I get run over by a bus and someone scrolls through my phone to see which of my friends to contact, please someone explain why I have someone called Colonel Poo in my phone) are all now contactable. Yay!

xpost

Al, I'm all checked in and everything already for my flight, woo for organisation (and useful brothers), so will see you tomorrow ready to hit teh shops and teh cider farmers.

Don't get me so drunk on Saturday that X Factor semi-final v Gang Of Four actually becomes an issue in my mind :-0

ailsa_xx (ailsa_xx), Thursday, 7 December 2006 18:08 (seventeen years ago) link

hey, really gd news, i finally made an excellent connec w/ regard to some gr33n so will actually have some to share at ATP, after three months in the wilderness i can't believe my gd fortune - dead c will be even more awesome - catching the coach in a few hours, see you all for NWW tomorrow afternoon

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Thursday, 7 December 2006 21:41 (seventeen years ago) link

Andrew, if you still want to email me yr number then fine. This address is good.

Aaaaargh, I had forgotten NWW was early tomorrow. This just keeps getting better.

much_aldo_about_nothing (much_aldo_about_nothing), Thursday, 7 December 2006 22:07 (seventeen years ago) link

Well, that was fun. Despite the DDBs monopolising Stence for THE ENTIRE NIGHT but that's OK because they're some of my favourite DDBs and I got to exchange horrible soundman and horrible "oh noes we work for bankers!" stories with one of my fave bands in London. Yay. Being an Early Doors person, I had the best harem evah for a while.

Did Stence ever come out and party after I left?

I know TISSP made his train but will he ever get his wallet back? (Will he ever get his dignity back after I turned him over my knee and spanked him?)

masonic boom (kate), Friday, 8 December 2006 10:31 (seventeen years ago) link

(Also, Louis Jagger is being a total sweetie IRL shockah!)

masonic boom (kate), Friday, 8 December 2006 10:47 (seventeen years ago) link

Yes, Stence did come out and we tried to set the problems o the world right although we still could not find three generations of pop-stars from the same family that complied with the rules.

Ed (dali), Friday, 8 December 2006 10:58 (seventeen years ago) link

Did the DDBs stick around?

(I heart them, I really do. As Stence said "Yeah, actually, they are the most *Kate* band in the world ever..." I hope he takes them to NYC and makes them big stars.)

*Three* generations? Has pop been around long enough? Does Nancy Sinatra have any sprogs?

masonic boom (kate), Friday, 8 December 2006 11:00 (seventeen years ago) link

Whitney Houston's family must be in there somewhere.

suzy artskooldisko (suzy artskooldisko), Friday, 8 December 2006 13:04 (seventeen years ago) link

She's always a quarter-tone flat on the high notes, I hear. ;-)

masonic boom (kate), Friday, 8 December 2006 13:07 (seventeen years ago) link

Country music families and the 3-gen rule, hwever, take yer pick.

Great to finaly meet the Stence.

suzy artskooldisko (suzy artskooldisko), Friday, 8 December 2006 13:10 (seventeen years ago) link

I had much fun, good to sink a few beers with Stence and meet Louis at last. Srsly though, the Wildhearts?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 8 December 2006 14:18 (seventeen years ago) link

ya srsly.

Louis Jagger (Scourage), Friday, 8 December 2006 14:47 (seventeen years ago) link

hi everyone, had a great time at the pub, and at atp too! sorry i missed the fap there, as i couldn't check my email from thursday on. but i did meet colonel poo and andrew, and saw some great shit. good times, great oldies.

Tyrone Slothrop (Tyrone Slothrop), Sunday, 10 December 2006 15:56 (seventeen years ago) link

so how were the dead c?

toby (tsg20), Monday, 11 December 2006 10:58 (seventeen years ago) link

The Dead C were great, but not as good as the MC5 battling on with no PA. Colonel Poo got hit over the head with a chair during Negative Approach, he seemed to think this was one of the highlights of his weekend...

Sorry about missing The Day The Bowling Turned Dayglo last night. And sorry for missing Stence.

much_aldo_about_nothing (much_aldo_about_nothing), Monday, 11 December 2006 15:17 (seventeen years ago) link

i was sorry not to fap w/ hstencil and everyone, ailsa v. kindly texted me, but a) I got caught up in the plans and schemes of my london friends, who i hadn't seen for a few months and had been missing terribly, and b) after three months enforced abstinence, access to v. gd h3mp meant i was at last truly on the right vibrational plane to appreciate mouthus et al

i don't expect a fest in the uk to ever have such gd music again so i can't see myself going back to an ATP - shame, cos the chalets were actually WARM in this place

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Monday, 11 December 2006 21:24 (seventeen years ago) link

the dead c. were fucking awesome.

Tyrone Slothrop (Tyrone Slothrop), Monday, 11 December 2006 21:46 (seventeen years ago) link

Why the fuck did I miss Gang of Four? I well up every time I think of it.

teh_kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 12 December 2006 08:51 (seventeen years ago) link

By the way, before this slips into the archives, I wanted to say that everyone I met and FAPed with was thoroughly nice.

Other non-music related ATP stuff:
Ward Fowler, I smoked yr w33|) last night.
Did I mention that I won TWO Sonics in ONE grab?
I won my pie-eating contest.
Guinness and Lime is strangely drinkable.
I discovered that I can, in fact, be late for pretty much anything.
The arcades at Butlins need more focus.

teh_kit (g-kit), Wednesday, 13 December 2006 10:09 (seventeen years ago) link

We won Vicky Pollard and Daffyd keyrings from the 10p falls machine. I really wish I'd played the percussion machine. I was a bit miffed that the big raft ride was off. Bowling to Jesus Built My Hotrod = teh awesome. Being designated as the barometer of crapness at bowling = not quite so much.

I am the worst air-hockey player in the world, as Andrew F will testify.

And Guinness and lime is weird and pointless.

ailsa_xx (ailsa_xx), Wednesday, 13 December 2006 10:18 (seventeen years ago) link

Damn, we spent ages staring at that percussion game, too, only to be intimidated into leaving it well alone.
Maybe they should've had a little Pontins bear standing there going "Sorry Kits, Your Balls Need to be THIS BIG to play this game."

teh_kit (g-kit), Wednesday, 13 December 2006 10:23 (seventeen years ago) link

I think everyone spent ages staring at it, it was in prime Really Long Queue spot. Next time!

ailsa_xx (ailsa_xx), Wednesday, 13 December 2006 10:31 (seventeen years ago) link

I'm still sore.

Great meeting everyone, had a fucking fantastic time all weekend.

I missed the goth bowling FAP but we had our own on Sunday afternoon, they played Bela Lugosi's Dead again for us.

Guiness and lime was strangely enjoyable!

I have finally realised who Jerome myopic_void reminds me of: Doctor Gonzo's attorney from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 13 December 2006 13:04 (seventeen years ago) link

Yeah, dude - that's pretty much the vibe I was feeling by Sunday night! Thanks to all here for their warmth and collaboration in what was a fairly unbelievable weekend! It seemed pretty clear by the second day that this was something the like of which might not be seen again, musically at least. That was maybe the only problem I had with it - that there was so much going on that there was very little time for general hanging out and taking stock. Just relentless. I had a blast. Hope you all did too.

(I'll be posting some of my comments on the bands over on (fake) ILM at some point soon.)

Haha! Now that you mention it...

That was maybe the only problem I had with it - that there was so much going on that there was very little time for general hanging out and taking stock.

OTM! I'm not exactly sure why it seemed so manic this time. The whole weekend seemed to go by in a flash, though I remember at most previous years' ATPs, we spent a lot of time hanging out etc.

teh_kit (g-kit), Wednesday, 13 December 2006 13:58 (seventeen years ago) link

Yeah, hanging out time was at a premium. Partly, I think, because of proximity of town --> time off camp.
