grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...

And I care about neither of these persons, but taking the number 23 in vain is just not done. OK, it could be worse, it could be 22. But this is just a step too far for lamer Illuminati conspiracy wannabees.

Since ILE so often loves genre directors who manage to put some life into non-personal projects, I wonder why Schumacher is so universally hated. Even Batman Forever had some great moments, it seems that people who hate it are the ones who think Batman should always be gloomy and gothic. (Then again, the sixties movie gets a lot love here too.)

Batman Forever is really kind of awesome.

The Lost Boys is still a fantastic film. Also, I loved the over the topness of the Phantom of the Opera.

But I know that I am film deaf, and not entitled to have opinions in these weighty matters. ;-P

(Consequently I had no idea Joel Schumacher - a filmmaker I almost DESPISE - was behind The Lost Boys...this changes EVERYTHING!)

(Not really.)

I'm actually kinda impressed that Jim Carrey is doing this. Every comedian wants to do the Tom Hanks comedy-comedy-comedy-OSCARNOM thing, but he's actually going for a trashy thriller! Tom Hanks didn't do that, unless you want to count The Da Vinci Code.

Also I love Virginia Madsen.

My friends and I went to a matinee of Batman & Robin aged 18 and stoned out of our boxes, and came out of the cinema having decided that it was the funniest film ever made. I've not watched it since, I imagine it would be a huge let down when sober.

Will Schumacher ever have a Verhoven-style critical reapraisal, I wonder (not that he neccessarily deserves one).

8mm is one of the funniest films ever made, batman forever is decent, batman & robin is unwatchable on any level

Verhoven-style critical reappraisal

Was there a time when people didn't see him as a crazy old coot with arty aspirations and a fascism fixation?

Srsly, speaking from ignorance here.

Yeah, why are we having a thread about Joel Shitwhatever instead of having a VIRGINIA MADSEN TOTALLY HOT YAY BOOBIES thread

"(In) every interview I read, somebody was asking her about her weight and, 'Do you throw up in the bathroom?' I mean, no one asks teenage boys, 'Do you have pubic hair yet? What size are your balls?' Whereas they'll ask a teenage girl, 'Are you still a virgin?'"

How come no one has mentioned Hurley from Lost yet?
