i have been eying listings for the past month or so and i keep seeing tons of repeats, but yeah, don't really wanna rent a place til i'm there and have an idea where i will be working/spending most of my time, so i think sublet is the way to go! those probably go faster, though.

t. silaviver, Saturday, 25 April 2009 23:19 (fourteen years ago) link

also it's hard to find a job when you're not there. experience teaches me that hiring parties generally think out of towners are too much work. i might line up temp legal stuff just as security, though.

tehresa, Saturday, 25 April 2009 23:24 (fourteen years ago) link

i don't have a job either because the job i had last summer doesn't hire w/o bar results but i am exploring other options

trouble child (harbl), Saturday, 25 April 2009 23:25 (fourteen years ago) link

shit t siv i've moved a half-dozen times w/o a job (though not w/ the type of shit that's going on right now)

jergins, Saturday, 25 April 2009 23:25 (fourteen years ago) link

harbs did u pass the bar??

jergins, Saturday, 25 April 2009 23:25 (fourteen years ago) link

yes out of town job searching seems impossible unless you are looking at mega firms who recruit. but i am not.

trouble child (harbl), Saturday, 25 April 2009 23:25 (fourteen years ago) link

i am taking it in july jergs

trouble child (harbl), Saturday, 25 April 2009 23:26 (fourteen years ago) link

tehresa, Saturday, 25 April 2009 23:36 (fourteen years ago) link

originally i thought i might get laid off in like january. this was always when it was supposed to be over, though.

tehresa, Saturday, 25 April 2009 23:36 (fourteen years ago) link

i get laid off for a month starting june 15th and i am trying not to count down the days

jergins, Saturday, 25 April 2009 23:42 (fourteen years ago) link

i am counting down the days because i am bored a lot at work.

jergins, maybe we can hang out in our jobless time!

tehresa, Saturday, 25 April 2009 23:45 (fourteen years ago) link

i am moving in 20 days

kind of scared though like what if it sucks

trouble child (harbl), Saturday, 25 April 2009 23:46 (fourteen years ago) link

that would be a concern when you move to a sucky place

jergins, Saturday, 25 April 2009 23:46 (fourteen years ago) link

About 344,069 people are unemployed and looking for work in Washington, the third record month in a row and topping last month's record 330,572.

Seattle's unemployment rate jumped an entire point to 8.8 percent -- topping the rate during the dot-com bust. The Seattle rate is the highest of all the months on record going back to January 2000.

t. silaviver, Saturday, 25 April 2009 23:46 (fourteen years ago) link

cut it out

jergins, Saturday, 25 April 2009 23:48 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah.
it's still cheaper there!

tehresa, Saturday, 25 April 2009 23:49 (fourteen years ago) link

While Maryland's unemployment rate remained well below the national rate of 8.5 percent in March, the 6.9 percent state rate was the highest since 1992, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

trouble child (harbl), Sunday, 26 April 2009 00:01 (fourteen years ago) link

i don't know how you would since i imagine most people work in different boroughs than they live.

tehresa, Sunday, 26 April 2009 00:01 (fourteen years ago) link

uhaul is not expensive but by the time you add gas + hotels it would be a lot... but man, a cross-country trip would be so awesome! i am considering taking the train for 42 hours instead. montana! and you can check 3 bags free (as opposed to planes, where you have to pay).

tehresa, Friday, 19 March 2010 23:17 (fourteen years ago) link
