I'm not sure yet. Probably depends on how late I stay at work, which would determine if I go straight there or if I go home first and then drive.

I have eaten there, yes. I remember it being pretty good, though I can't tell you what I had. It was a few years ago.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 17:16 (seventeen years ago) link

Do you guys need to be there any earlier to sign up?

I just consumed a blend of 6 live active cultures. BOO YAH!

Calico (calico), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 17:16 (seventeen years ago) link

Jordan, I wouldn't eat plan yogurt plain, probably! But it's SOOO GOOD and necessary for sauces and toppings and cooking purposes.

Laurel (Laurel), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 17:18 (seventeen years ago) link

I had the hummus appetizer dealie when we ended up there last week (Galway). It was acceptable.

danno martinez (danno martinez), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 17:22 (seventeen years ago) link

True, I buy it for making tzatziki sauce sometimes.

JordanC (JordanC), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 17:25 (seventeen years ago) link

That pig named after me is awfully cute.

We watched an ep of Dirty Jobs last night during which the very handsome Mike Rowe worked on a pig farm. And a small pig farm that probably can call it's methods humane and they still did mean things to baby pigs (clip their teeth off, cut off their tails) that made me have to hide in the bathroom until the segment was over.

I am the most conflicted meat eater I have ever met. FYI.

I think that chicken stock adds a lot of flavor to lentils, etc., and I tend to use a lot of it, but I think vegetable stock works just as well as a substitute. Maybe I'll start using more vegetable stock. Best bet would be to make my own but what am I, made of spare time?

Plain yogurt w/ salt, pepper, etc. is AWESOME.

The burger at Galway was subpar.

Jeff... (Jeff...), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 17:44 (seventeen years ago) link

I had a great burger last night. It involved avocado spread.

Guess what time it is?
It's PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME

What kind of jelly, Sarah?

Eazy (Eazy), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 18:06 (seventeen years ago) link

I don't think you're ready for it, Eazy.

You know, I have decided I don't like that dude. He's just a little too smug. He's handsome, yes, but he is very aware of that, and seems to always be smirking about it in a self-satisfied way. Contrast with the mythbusters guys, who are just huge geeks and really into their job. Way more fun.

I loved Deadliest Catch so much, and he was the narrator for that show... it's hard to move on from such awesomeness.

danno martinez (danno martinez), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 18:15 (seventeen years ago) link

never saw that. you have better associations than i. I just think of that dude who's covered in shit and acting like he's way above it.

Hi.

Hi!

Ok, I have an idea for spring. (I'm anxious for spring.) I think we should meet in the park and have an informal croquet tournament. We can find some wacky hills and set up a ridiculous croquet course.

lavender mofo (kenan), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 18:33 (seventeen years ago) link

XTREME CROQUET! I'll bring the Mt. Dew.

danno martinez (danno martinez), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 18:34 (seventeen years ago) link

Hi.

Apricot jam, yo!

I like Croquet. Do you have the rackets? Better yet, do you have THE BALLS?

Calico (calico), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 18:35 (seventeen years ago) link

of course, if we were really extreme, we would play ice croquet like these wackos:

I'll have to buy croquet balls, though.

CONDO FOR SALE

My coworker is talking about selling her condo in the Loop for $190K. It's right next to Sears on State Street. Right above H&M.

Little kernel of salty honey (crunkleJ), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 18:36 (seventeen years ago) link

Humboldt park would be more fun and possibly less crowded.

Calico (calico), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 18:36 (seventeen years ago) link

Oh shoot... What was our bike gang called?

Calico (calico), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 18:37 (seventeen years ago) link

I think you're on to something. We can make obstacles out of the trash.

lavender mofo (kenan), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 18:37 (seventeen years ago) link

I'm kinda of hung.

Little kernel of salty honey (crunkleJ), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 18:38 (seventeen years ago) link

if i were you i'd get some mallets too, i don't know how well rackets would stand up.

xpost- humboldt park is also good for a makeshift driving range.

Lincoln park would be better for bacci, though.

lavender mofo (kenan), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 18:41 (seventeen years ago) link

over.

Went out to Smith & Woll3nsky again last night for the Bottomless Glass of Wine. Met some Irish folks and sang The Star Spangled Banner, O Canada, Waltzing Matilda, Molly Malone, and God Save the Queen with them. It was...interesting.

One of the Irish people was a priest of the Holy Ghost order, and I told him that I didn't know dick about his order, but the Jesuits were my favorite fucking priests around.

I woke up in the Loop.

Jesse, did you get it on in a downtown Catholic church? Or did you wake up on Lower Wacker Drive?

Eazy (Eazy), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 18:56 (seventeen years ago) link

From earlier: there is no food around that bacon cannot make better. Bacon in lentils is not to be knocked. Although I guess you could also use smoked turkey necks.

I done told you Eric, I spent the night at my coworker's place downtown.

Let me tell you something--traipsing out into the sunshiny world with a hangover is hard enough anywhere, but it's especially unpleasant when you have to deal with the Loop first thing in the morning. Loud and people-y.

Little kernel of salty honey (crunkleJ), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 19:00 (seventeen years ago) link

Jordan, if you haven't seen, the bit that CPR did on your gig from last weekend is available to listen to/download at

Last night a union guy was sat in my section and we talked unions and I told him about going to New Orleans, etc. I told him that in the wake of Katrina Bush repealed the Davis-Bacon act which says that workers who work on government-contracted jobs must be paid the prevailing wage for their area (NO=around $15/hour, I think). Do you know that he said that that was probably not a bad idea?!

This post would probably have been a better IM to Jenny.

my worst hangover involved puking into the mississippi river at 11:45 a.m. in new orleans along the river walk amongst a throng of tourists. some southern belle/sorority type actually gasped and pointed at me while i was hurling. i put both hands on the railing, steadied myself, turned towards her and her friends and just said "YEAH!" then tried again to get back to my hotel.

HA!!! Awesome.

Little kernel of salty honey (crunkleJ), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 19:21 (seventeen years ago) link

it kinda was, kinda wasn't. at the time it was only like the second time i'd ever puked from drinking. we'd started in massachusetts about 31 hours before and went straight through, it was when my body was no longer able to tolerate the abuse i put it through when i was in my early 20s.

Have any of you gone up to a Catholic today and gone, "Oh, you've got something on your forehead--"? I do or almost do that every Ash Wednesday. Except today since I'm at home.

Little kernel of salty honey (crunkleJ), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 19:33 (seventeen years ago) link

i just walked past a striking vision of a med student and she had ashes on her head but it wasn't her forehead i was thinking about.
