Congrats John! I'm hoping to pass 47,000 before I finish up for the night. After working my way through this for the first time, my hat is definitely off to anyone who even attempted this crazy venture whether they will finish or not. 'Twas not for the faint of heart, that much is certain.

Now, if only I had a title. I've always been horrible with those.

Sure you can. Just completely sever yer internal editor, write about tangental things. When I was getting blocked for a while, I worked in an old story from when I went to college and it ended up changing the direction for the better. I don't know if this works for everybody, but my fastest sections were things I paraphrased from real life, because you don't really have to create plot.

(This is why it made me happy to include one of her craziest habits in my story; MJ is famous for walking up to brides and announcing loudly, "You're getting laid tonight and your parents know about it!")

Sam - drugs and a locked room might work.

As for me, I'm still far behind A. I'm kind of hoping to catch up with him somehow, though. (ah, fantasyland is a great place, isn't it.)

(Sorry for incomplete answer: I had to eat lunch!) The brides I've seen her do this to were all familiar with MJ's sense of humor. Still, at least one looked horrified. Everybody else rolled their eyes at her, laughed, or said, "Janice..." in a warning tone. So far as I remember, she's never done this in front of anyone's actual parent.

Sam - I think January is the perfect month for your own private NaNoWriMo. January is usually pretty boring and quiet.

Dudes! I have only 3,200 words left to write, and a great/terrible piece of luck has befallen me! I have contracted pneumonia!

This is great, because it means I don't have to go to work tomorrow and can finish in style. Terrible because that style will be "drug-induced haze".

I think it's great that you guys are going to do it during a non-November time. That would never work for me, though, as I only got as far as I did due to perceived peer pressure. (Also, when my husband got lazy about it, I did, too.)

Srsly, I would love to knit, but I am so bad at it, you wouldn't believe. No-one has any patience to teach me, either. Teachers in school, my mother (who used to knit professionally), nobody. I'm the saddest kid on the block, with my stupid shop bought scarf and hat.

There used to be, but a lot of it is done in the developing world now. But yes, my mother used to knit cardigans and jumpers for clothing manufacturers in Ireland. It was only ever for a bit of extra cash, and because she would be knitting anyway. She does not really knit now.

I love shop-bought novels, but a story featuring the recipient is pretty unique. I have a very few stories that I'm in that others wrote (from a group of high school friends - written long ago) and I still love them. They are great fun!
