y'know nhs hospitals *can be* pretty shitty (londoners will probably know what i mean by the name whittington)...

Errrrrrrrrr, I went to the Whittington once: clean, prompt service, lovely staff...

i guess it must vary from person to person; i went in december (to visit said uncle) and it was none of those things -- the cleanness thing demonstrably so.

i kind of work with health people most days so i don't need to say they're lovely. some are, some are not.

He's a cantankerous old bastard with an almost childlike enthusiasm for music (and Manchester!) somehow intermingled with a brusque, sharply funny cynicism. I'm sure those qualities will help him get better quickly.

I just tend to think he will make it through this, can't explain why. One of my friends who doesn't come to this board tried to break the news to me and that's about all I could say. I didn't want to sound flippant or nonchalant about it, but my gut says he's going to be fine.

me & my brother were making a joke the other week about recording a song called "wake up tony wilson, you're dead", cos we couldn't remember the last time we'd seen him on tv. now feel very guilty. :(
