Stan, you BASTA(A)RD!

I clicked like the sad loser I am. :-((((

stevie nixed (stevienixed), Friday, 1 September 2006 10:37 (seventeen years ago) link

awww...remember when people looked like something in august 2006

katarina (katarina), Friday, 1 September 2006 11:49 (seventeen years ago) link

I'm sure someone will announce here when it's back so don't keep checking. it's more than a poxy fule this tim.e

Ms Misery (MsMisery), Friday, 1 September 2006 11:52 (seventeen years ago) link

Here's what I know:
1. The database is completely knackered, and won't start up. ILX won't be back until it's fixed.
2. Andrew is trying to fix it, but is also massively busy. A server restart might do the trick, but that can't be done until Monday
3. Nobody with the heavy mySQL-fu has stepped up to fix it.
4. Here we are!

stet (stet), Friday, 1 September 2006 11:54 (seventeen years ago) link

A poxy clusterfuck.

Maybe ILX should put an ad on craigslist.

Needed: 1 heavy-hitting MySQL db admin to fix ailing server. In return you will receive loads of snark and an advance copy of the Joanna Newsom album.

Nu-Edward III (edward iii), Friday, 1 September 2006 12:00 (seventeen years ago) link

Sorry, Nathalie... ^_^

StanM (StanM), Friday, 1 September 2006 13:06 (seventeen years ago) link

Well, Stan my man, I won't accept your apologies! NO EFFING WAY!

;-)

stevie nixed (stevienixed), Friday, 1 September 2006 13:41 (seventeen years ago) link

It's like Ballard's Concrete Island. Give us long enough and we won't WANT to go back to old-ILx.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Friday, 1 September 2006 13:51 (seventeen years ago) link

i already like this place better!

Euai Kapaui (tracerhand), Friday, 1 September 2006 14:00 (seventeen years ago) link

i dont know. manually scrolling to my unread answers is a lot of work!

katarina (katarina), Friday, 1 September 2006 14:07 (seventeen years ago) link

I get there automatically! Hmm.

beanz-ii (beanz), Friday, 1 September 2006 14:10 (seventeen years ago) link

!! do you get the 'Unread Answers' thing. i get nothing.

katarina (katarina), Friday, 1 September 2006 14:15 (seventeen years ago) link

wait, it might be my settings

katarina (katarina), Friday, 1 September 2006 14:17 (seventeen years ago) link

did you check it on your preferences?

If we start using this board too much though it's going to break too.

Ms Misery (MsMisery), Friday, 1 September 2006 14:17 (seventeen years ago) link

In the New Answers page I don't get the number of unread messages, but in a thread it takes me straight to unread messages if there are any. Is it a cookies thing or a setting or something?

xpost I can't remember, I'll look

beanz-ii (beanz), Friday, 1 September 2006 14:18 (seventeen years ago) link

Yes - but we're supposed to test it innit?

beanz-ii (beanz), Friday, 1 September 2006 14:19 (seventeen years ago) link

This board should have a policy of deleting everything that hasn't been posted to in a week.

nu_onimo (nu_onimo), Friday, 1 September 2006 14:20 (seventeen years ago) link

That's my Pick of The Pops thread had it, then... :-(

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Friday, 1 September 2006 14:23 (seventeen years ago) link

Just keep reviving it.

nu_onimo (nu_onimo), Friday, 1 September 2006 14:24 (seventeen years ago) link

Ruud Haarvest (KenL), Friday, 1 September 2006 14:25 (seventeen years ago) link

ok unread answers is working for SOME thread but not others for me.

it was my settings/prefs, btw

katarina (katarina), Friday, 1 September 2006 14:40 (seventeen years ago) link

It'll take a while to build the cache if you've just changed the setting.

stet (stet), Friday, 1 September 2006 14:40 (seventeen years ago) link

WHY!?!?!

j/k

katarina (katarina), Friday, 1 September 2006 14:41 (seventeen years ago) link

I tried to change that setting, it just replied "email address already in use"

OF COURSE IT IS, IT'S ME!!!

M Grout (Mark Grout), Friday, 1 September 2006 14:46 (seventeen years ago) link

Is this the right thread for reporting nu-code idiosyncracies? I've not really looked around properly.

beanz-ii (beanz), Friday, 1 September 2006 14:47 (seventeen years ago) link

nucode as run here is pretty much identical to old code, with some patches and things to spot image spam or CSS. the new stuff's still being worked on

stet (stet), Friday, 1 September 2006 14:54 (seventeen years ago) link

OK. Is that why i for images doesn't work?

beanz-ii (beanz), Friday, 1 September 2006 14:56 (seventeen years ago) link

no, I dunno why that's bust. I'll check tonight

stet (stet), Friday, 1 September 2006 15:03 (seventeen years ago) link

Is katarina = sunny successor?

I Am Curious (George) (Slight Return) (Rock Hardy), Friday, 1 September 2006 15:04 (seventeen years ago) link

She is on the other board, so yes, probably.

StanM (StanM), Friday, 1 September 2006 15:14 (seventeen years ago) link

Ruud Haarvest (KenL), Friday, 1 September 2006 15:19 (seventeen years ago) link

She's katarina on MySpace.

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 1 September 2006 15:28 (seventeen years ago) link

Ruud Haarvest (KenL), Friday, 1 September 2006 15:31 (seventeen years ago) link

katarina (katarina), Friday, 1 September 2006 15:32 (seventeen years ago) link

sunny successor (katarina), Friday, 1 September 2006 16:15 (seventeen years ago) link

I can't believe that ILX is kaput. Why didn't we foresee
this??
There's gotta be a better way. Why didn't we vote on an
emergency recieving area in case of the apocalypse?
WHY?? Where do we go from here??? Oh the ANGST!!

squirrel_police, Friday, 1 September 2006 23:51 (seventeen years ago) link

It was all a big plan to avoid you. Didn't work.

Andrew posted this on the Google code group, so there's only a little tunnel to go before the light or something.

Date: Sat, Sep 2 2006 9:07 am

Have rebooted the machine, repaired all tables, and am now just testing
the thing whilst setting up the slave replication before going live
again.

Losing to nu-Boris - what a rotten way to go. Still, better this than "passing on the torch" to Roddick in r4 - that would truly make me hurl.

Safin edges Bandy in a 5th-set t/b...

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Sunday, 3 September 2006 18:04 (seventeen years ago) link

I'm not even getting poxy-fuled or anything now, I'm just getting server not found.

I like to think ILX is saddened at the end of Agassi's career, but I just suspect someone's fannying about with the search function again.

ailsa_xx (ailsa_xx), Sunday, 3 September 2006 18:32 (seventeen years ago) link

i would be in total agreement re Roddick if i didn't have tickets for tomorrow night. i'm thankful for having seen the Pavel match though.

nuneb (nuneb), Sunday, 3 September 2006 18:39 (seventeen years ago) link

do you guys watching overseas get to see the 'I Feel Pretty' commercial?

nuneb (nuneb), Sunday, 3 September 2006 18:39 (seventeen years ago) link

It's half working (half the time you get the New Answers, the other half it's poxy fule, but this time the error is on line 133)

StanM (StanM), Sunday, 3 September 2006 19:30 (seventeen years ago) link

OKAY I DONT GIVE A SHIT IF THIS DOES NOT BELONG ON THIS THREAD. It's my thread so I can do whatever I want with it. So I'm gonna post the reply I was going to do on that Blondie thread over on ILX.WH3RD.NET

Since when were Blondie POST-punk?

Ever since she was able to de/inflate her breasts at random.

Some of these pics make me wish I had never had an internet connection. As much as I love Debbie, the ones in which she's grooving with a guy in pink shorts is just so wrong. Her outfit is just... fugly.

THERE. :-P

StanM (StanM), Sunday, 3 September 2006 19:36 (seventeen years ago) link

Shit, I can't remember. :-( I'll ask my cousin. She knows.

stevie nixed (stevienixed), Sunday, 3 September 2006 19:52 (seventeen years ago) link

You don't even remember what it is either? Must be pretty amazing then! :-)

StanM (StanM), Sunday, 3 September 2006 19:56 (seventeen years ago) link

Oh shit, a cellar bar. The music was playing too loud and on crap speakers, but apart from that it was pretty cosy.

stevie nixed (stevienixed), Sunday, 3 September 2006 19:57 (seventeen years ago) link

poxy grahhh

graahh, Sunday, 3 September 2006 20:30 (seventeen years ago) link

Cool, I like cellar bars! Thanks, I'll check it out (I think it's near the vrijdagsmarkt) !

Roddick-Verdasco into a 5th set! Murray bounces back from 2-1 down to lead with a double-break in the decider vs Gonzalez!

(I like how this has become the thread for conversations on threads not worth restarting in the sandbox).
