It's still not funny, just like all the other cartoons here (aren't cartoons supposed to be funny instead of frustratingly brainwashy?), but anyway.

kingfish in absentia (kingfish), Monday, 27 November 2006 18:04 (seventeen years ago) link

I would say the bullet should be captioned "Syrian voting machine," but assassinating politicians in other countries doesn't make a good joke on "voting." (Is there an amusing Israeli euphemism for it?)

those "day by day" cartoons are SO WIERD. who the f draws them? there's some kind of strange reverse ainsley hayes sex fantasy going on there: a tcs/nro-repeating chick with a sweet can, goth hair, and one token liberal (also hot if messy) friend? oh and her sunglass/goatee fiance and sunglass/bald black gop pals.

and what (ooo), Friday, 16 February 2007 20:42 (seventeen years ago) link

Eh, Obama's features are all east African, and he's biracial, so the stuff about his face that you'd exaggerate and caricature is way more about how he specifically looks than any racial type.

Haha every fourth year or so I feel some slight sympathy for cartoonists who have to hold back from caricaturing non-white features for fear of being offensive, but then it's like, hell, sorry, Americans have spent all their capital in terms of caricaturing non-white people -- people had their shot and had a good run of it, time's up!

One thing I would be incredibly curious to see is old equivalent renderings of Europeans from an early colonial period, like caricatured representations of the freaky pale people with the boats. Something of this has surely been preserved somewhere.

Many Jewish groups were shocked by the publication in 2003 by the British newspaper The Independent of a cartoon depicting Ariel Sharon eating a baby.[6] The Israeli government complained to the Press Complaints Commission that the cartoon alluded to the blood libel of Jews eating the children of Christians; Dave Brown, the author, responded that the cartoon was in fact inspired by Francisco de Goya's painting Saturn Devouring his Son[7] and was not anti-Semitic in intent. The PCC accepted Brown's argument, stating "There is nothing inherently anti-semitic about the Goya image or about the myth of Saturn devouring his children, which has been used previously to satirise other politicians accused of sacrificing their own 'children' for political purposes".[8] The cartoon ultimately earned Brown the British Political Cartoon Society's Political Cartoon of the Year award.

I love conservative math:

Manipulating intelligence/distorting facts/lying to send troops off to an unnecessary war and then mismanaging it with incompetence that has cost thousands of lives = supporting the troops

Trying to figure out how to end the war and bring the troops home = treason

n (nathan), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 19:51 (seventeen years ago) link

you forgot the part where you cut all of the benefits for the troops once they get back. and put the most damaged ones in shitty, roach-infested hellhole facilities to keep them out of the public eye.

watchword for the conservatives this week: SLOW BLEED. democrats want the troops to SLOWly BLEED to death!!!!!!!!

Del Monte Young (ex machina), Thursday, 22 February 2007 23:39 (seventeen years ago) link

if you wanted to knock out an entire region perhaps, but it's pretty safe to say that it'd kill anything in the same city.

they be stealin' kingfish's bucket (kingfish), Thursday, 22 February 2007 23:44 (seventeen years ago) link

Beyond a certain altitude a nuclear weapon will not produce any EMP, as the gamma rays will have had sufficient distance to disperse.
