I heard Terry Gross say on NPR's "Fresh Air" that she would be featuring a review of these cds later in her show, but I was out of my car and doing other stuff by the time it must have happened. Maybe it's online...

OK, David Byrne and NPR are talking about Monte but not many at ILX or [your fave blog here] or you local daily paper or alt-weekly...

Thanks for the recs, Cornyrocker--I like Laondatropical a lot, and wayneandwax as well. I've been scouring the Interweb for more examples and links, but I think Laondatropical is great. And Infinito is growing on me, albeit slowly. Lately I've been listening to Chico Buarque. Amazing!!!!

I just got Infinito Particular at the Archive of Contemporary Music sale, where there is a big stack of them. I'm liking it.

I can't get used to it--it's a little too much pretty. And also, David Byrne's voice grates on me, or is he on the other one, the samba album? Either way, I like Mario Caldato's production, but it's tooooo pretty, i think.

From another article in Spanish(suddenly from Google it appears she did a bunch of interviews with newspapers from Spain)

I devoted three years to record this album. Having my second child I was very busy. Motherhood has affected me much, I had the opportunity to spend much time at home and listened to my soul.
