when i was in elementary school (maybe 2nd grade?), i continuously bounced on my pogo ball from my house to my elementary school and back one weekend. i'm not sure how far it was. and i actually just went on google maps to find out how far. it seemed like much longer when i was a kid, and it's only actually about a mile round trip. but still. also, wtf the city has google street view! but seattle still doesn't. it was a trip seeing my old house though! this has also provided a brief but solid way for me to procrastinate.

as an experiment i subscribed (today) to a daily email from this board. it was sent at 4:05 pdt, and you posted "i just clicked on this board..." at 4:10, so the timing makes me wonder.

being an archivist at heart, i am going to maintain my subscription.

lxy, Sunday, 16 November 2008 01:53 (fifteen years ago) link

estela, what will your thanksgiving dinner consist of?

Lingbert, Sunday, 16 November 2008 02:10 (fifteen years ago) link

http://www.thanksgiving.org.au/

jergins, Sunday, 16 November 2008 02:34 (fifteen years ago) link

reading that, it seems like you'll have to eat a picture of john howard

jelky, Sunday, 16 November 2008 05:25 (fifteen years ago) link

if thanksgiving isn't till may, why do you have to rush to put the tree up now?

lxy, Sunday, 16 November 2008 05:44 (fifteen years ago) link

i think she's trying to be all accommodating and shit for her husband

Lingbert, Sunday, 16 November 2008 05:46 (fifteen years ago) link

oh well then it's because she's nice!

lxy, Sunday, 16 November 2008 06:07 (fifteen years ago) link

i just read him your posts and he said 'shush'. (xp not your post lxy)

our friend is moving to new york and she loves thanksgiving so we're doing it for her before she goes.

i've never heard of that australian thanksgiving, it looks shit.

estela, Sunday, 16 November 2008 06:12 (fifteen years ago) link

so what's for thanksgiving supper? i am interested in knowing.

Lingbert, Sunday, 16 November 2008 06:35 (fifteen years ago) link

and tell your husband "just a bit of fun. be cool"

Lingbert, Sunday, 16 November 2008 06:35 (fifteen years ago) link

it's me he was shushing, he was trying to sleep at the time of reading.

we'll have turkey, garlic mashed potato, gravy, stuffing, cranberry, vegetables, salad. i have to order the turkey soon because fresh turkeys are usually only required here at christmas, last year i had to get a frozen one and it didn't defrost on time, it was annoying.

and we'll have pumpkin pie, and probably fresh berries and gelato, it's summer here.

last year we had our thanksgiving on the saturday and it was election day here and john howard lost everything, it was very great.

estela, Sunday, 16 November 2008 06:53 (fifteen years ago) link

your thanksgiving dinner sounds awesome and i wish it was in front of me right now

Lingbert, Sunday, 16 November 2008 07:04 (fifteen years ago) link

estela, Sunday, 16 November 2008 07:10 (fifteen years ago) link

Lingbert, Sunday, 16 November 2008 07:21 (fifteen years ago) link

estela, Sunday, 16 November 2008 07:25 (fifteen years ago) link

this morning f. was walking our dog and he saw this mean neighbour of ours and her terrible little angry dog and the dog was jumping up at f. and she said, 'it's because you're eating a banana, he loves bananas, can he have a bit,' so f. broke a piece off and the dog scarfed it down and then the neighbour lady suddenly lunged at the banana and dug her fingers right into it to get more for her dog. f. was taken aback, he threw the rest of it in the trash.

estela, Sunday, 16 November 2008 07:48 (fifteen years ago) link

lol!

Lingbert, Sunday, 16 November 2008 07:54 (fifteen years ago) link

last week i saw her angrily waving a tennis racquet at some birds, she looked demented and the birds seemed bored, they flapped around a bit then landed back where they'd been at the beginning of the row.

estela, Sunday, 16 November 2008 08:14 (fifteen years ago) link

is she a tennis player in addition to being completely crazy and awful?

lxy, Sunday, 16 November 2008 17:12 (fifteen years ago) link

i know she is a golfer, i'm not sure about tennis.
the truth of the matter is that we sort of enjoy her. you can see her frown from 500 yards away.

estela, Sunday, 16 November 2008 22:43 (fifteen years ago) link
