Let's have a Troll 2 party.

JordanC (JordanC), Monday, 19 February 2007 14:04 (seventeen years ago) link

So tell us about this girl you met.

Metrosexual Healing (crunkleJ), Monday, 19 February 2007 14:05 (seventeen years ago) link

Oh, there's not much to tell. We hit it off at the club, and if I had stayed something might have happened. Instead I chose to leave when the rest of my band was leaving to get food, and she gave me her number and told me to call her in a little while. I did, no answer, and I figured that was that. Then when I driving back to Madison I was surprised to get a text from her asking if I was still in town.

JordanC (JordanC), Monday, 19 February 2007 14:12 (seventeen years ago) link

Oh she's an architecture student, and she was sitting with six other girls who were not only architecture students but also French.

JordanC (JordanC), Monday, 19 February 2007 14:13 (seventeen years ago) link

This is not the first time I've chosen the company of dudes and fried foods over a potentially awkward one night stand situation. Does this mean I'm gay?

JordanC (JordanC), Monday, 19 February 2007 14:22 (seventeen years ago) link

Dudes and fried foods are some of MY favorite things!

This reads like the executive summary of a three-verse rap song.

Eazy (Eazy), Monday, 19 February 2007 15:59 (seventeen years ago) link

lol

JordanC (JordanC), Monday, 19 February 2007 16:02 (seventeen years ago) link

kevin, you got me in trouble on ilm. Springsteen *did* write "Blinded By The Light".

teasing your poultry (kenan), Monday, 19 February 2007 16:11 (seventeen years ago) link

LOL I wondered if that would bite anyone in the ass

danno martinez (danno martinez), Monday, 19 February 2007 16:14 (seventeen years ago) link

I even went so far as to say something like, "It fits so well on the album, you'd never know he didn't write it!" Egg. Face. All over.

teasing your poultry (kenan), Monday, 19 February 2007 16:16 (seventeen years ago) link

I had such a fabulous weekend. Jordan, I love your band.

Hi, guys.

Calico (calico), Monday, 19 February 2007 16:16 (seventeen years ago) link

What is "Blinded by the Light"?

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 19 February 2007 16:18 (seventeen years ago) link

Made famous by Manfred Mann's Earth Band. Also, one line sounds like "wrapped up in a douche" or something similar.

danno martinez (danno martinez), Monday, 19 February 2007 16:18 (seventeen years ago) link

xpost Apparently it's a Bruce Springsteen original, not, as I had assumed, a song by Manfred Man's Earth Band.

teasing your poultry (kenan), Monday, 19 February 2007 16:18 (seventeen years ago) link

Manfred Mann of "Do Wah Diddy" fame?

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 19 February 2007 16:23 (seventeen years ago) link

Thanks Sarah!

JordanC (JordanC), Monday, 19 February 2007 16:24 (seventeen years ago) link

xpost The same, and "Cock-A-Hoop", apparently.

danno martinez (danno martinez), Monday, 19 February 2007 16:24 (seventeen years ago) link

I apparently don't know anything about popular music.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 19 February 2007 16:25 (seventeen years ago) link

I think you would recognize it if you heard it, John.

Calico (calico), Monday, 19 February 2007 16:25 (seventeen years ago) link

I apparently don't know anything about popular music.

That's just false. I had totally forgotten about "Do Wah Diddy".

teasing your poultry (kenan), Monday, 19 February 2007 16:27 (seventeen years ago) link

Doesn't look familiar, but I kind of love those lyrics.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 19 February 2007 16:28 (seventeen years ago) link

Yeah, Kenan, but "Earth Band"??

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 19 February 2007 16:28 (seventeen years ago) link

I'm trying to remember one of the tunes we played on Friday night. It's an oldie/r&b tune, with a backbeat, and it wasn't 'My Girl' (although we played that too). We hadn't played the tune in years and I don't really know the original. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

JordanC (JordanC), Monday, 19 February 2007 16:29 (seventeen years ago) link

I felt dumb on Friday when I thought that "Just the Two of Us" was a Will Smith original.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 19 February 2007 16:34 (seventeen years ago) link

I'm listening to this "Earth Band" version of "Blinded by the Light" and it sounds only vaguely familiar.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 19 February 2007 16:35 (seventeen years ago) link

Will Smith did 'Just the Two of Us'? I don't even remember that.

JordanC (JordanC), Monday, 19 February 2007 16:35 (seventeen years ago) link

He sang it with his wee son.

Calico (calico), Monday, 19 February 2007 16:36 (seventeen years ago) link

I felt dumb on Friday when I thought that "Just the Two of Us" was a Will Smith original.

LOL, not because you felt dumb, but just because this is a very jaymc thing to say and I like it.

danno martinez (danno martinez), Monday, 19 February 2007 16:37 (seventeen years ago) link

Well, I was grooving to it, and Kenan said "Wait, what is this?" and I said "'Just the Two of Us'! The Will Smith song!" And Kenan said, "You mean Grover Washington Jr. and Bill Withers." And I said, "Well, yeah," even though that was totally news to me.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 19 February 2007 16:38 (seventeen years ago) link

I never knew that was Bill Withers with Grover W.

Eazy (Eazy), Monday, 19 February 2007 16:42 (seventeen years ago) link

I love me some Bill Withers.

JordanC (JordanC), Monday, 19 February 2007 16:44 (seventeen years ago) link

Yeah I couldn't have named who did the tune either, just knew it was a classic.

danno martinez (danno martinez), Monday, 19 February 2007 16:46 (seventeen years ago) link

Me either.

Calico (calico), Monday, 19 February 2007 16:47 (seventeen years ago) link

Also, a wedding staple. Nick and Sarah, take note.

teasing your poultry (kenan), Monday, 19 February 2007 16:47 (seventeen years ago) link

Totally. You guys should check out the original recording, it's badass.

I think my iPod has finally passed away. It lasted a good, I don't know, 3 years at least.

I have a crush of shame on this record. The cover reveals exactly what you will find inside.
