OOH FEAST TIEM

teh_kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 13 February 2007 09:01 (seventeen years ago) link

I still really want an other to use the line "nah...we were just fucking with you guys that time!". preferably Tom...."the lists?? you believed the lists!??"

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 13 February 2007 10:34 (seventeen years ago) link

I love realizing that not only was there new LOST LAST week, there will be new LOST THIS week too!

you can say this for the next FIFTEEN WEEKS too.

Yeah, this is taking a lot of getting used to. Pinch me?

teh_kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 13 February 2007 10:45 (seventeen years ago) link

Hey on another subject, in season two, does anyone when Jack and Kate meet the others in the woods, while trying to get Michael back, whether Tom says "you stay on your half of the island" or "you stay on your side of the island"?

the people's prince (jergins), Tuesday, 13 February 2007 11:11 (seventeen years ago) link

Side.
Two days.
I do love Tom. I love the way he scurried for Jack after showing his blood revulsion.
i got really annoyed at Evangeline's two acting skills - kicking ass and sobbing into a microphone (walkie talkie) while doing her sad darting eye thing.
Why did she have to fall down, just like she does every time they run through the jungle? Not her fault, but...it's such a trope at this point.
And as has been pointed out upthread (the one in heaven/space)hammering the head of what's his face until he is left twitching should not have been resolved as what's his face suddenly awakening and escaping the cage to kill them.He shoulda been dead! or really disabled!
i hate any and every dramatic scene that has a female protaginist fumbling with whatever important thing she is handling.
it is done to death. the fluttering hands just don't fucking work any more.
Another fucking trope! I am really embracing my profanity this morning!
Kate fumbling with the lock, the walkie talkie, etc. needs to stop.
Anywhoo, I ate some great pasta carbonara last night! And now my tummy hurts:(

Alison, maybe you should have fumbled your dinner fork more.

Beth Parker (Beth Parker), Tuesday, 13 February 2007 20:38 (seventeen years ago) link

If they don't start asking TechnoKarl questions like "WTF do the Others do/want ffs!?!?!" in the next few episodes, I will go mentalistic. Actually, because that would be so simple, I fully expect Karl to die as soon as he gets back to Lostie home base.

teh_kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 13 February 2007 21:31 (seventeen years ago) link

I was actually thinking he would die on the way back, and then Alex would hate them and not be their friend and not meet her birth mom and be emo with those big blue eyes of hers swoon.

nklshs (nklshs), Tuesday, 13 February 2007 21:39 (seventeen years ago) link

My guess is that they make a big deal out of deprogramming him after all the others' happy sunshine videos he watched.

Slump Man (Slumpman), Tuesday, 13 February 2007 21:51 (seventeen years ago) link

In true LOST fashion he will probably survive, but his arrival to camp will be largely (if not entirely) ignored, no Sayid questioning, no Locke sweatlodge deprogramming, not even a "dude who're you?" from Hurley.

nklshs (nklshs), Tuesday, 13 February 2007 21:54 (seventeen years ago) link

He is a tap of answers and information. He's so fucking doomed.

teh_kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 13 February 2007 21:55 (seventeen years ago) link

otm.

least favorite part about show.

Rick Gibralter (grady), Tuesday, 13 February 2007 21:56 (seventeen years ago) link

FWIW I actually like Karl and hope he isn't as underutilized as I expect him to be. Not just as a plot device, but as a character. In fact...

MY PLEA TO DAMORN LINTELORF: PLEASE KILL NIKKI AND PAULO AND MAKE ALEX AND KARL REGULAR ACTORS-NAMES-IN-CREDITS FLASHBACK HAVING CHARACTERS PLZ THX.

PS ALSO TOM.

nklshs (nklshs), Tuesday, 13 February 2007 21:59 (seventeen years ago) link

Dude, everybody knows that the execs are DAMIEN WANKMEOFF, GAYGAY ABRAHAMS and CARLTON CLUELESS.

teh_kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 13 February 2007 22:07 (seventeen years ago) link

If "everybody" = me and Melton, obv.

teh_kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 13 February 2007 22:08 (seventeen years ago) link

other than that, 100% agree.

actually, given Tom's "big friendly bear" demeanor of later episodes (as opposed to the growling Zeke persona), is there any chance that he (or any of the other regular Others) are brainwash victims themselves?

teh_kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 13 February 2007 22:10 (seventeen years ago) link

I think Tom is a THESPIAN, whereas we saw him as this growling scary kid-stealing guy come to life off the Gorton's fishstick box in the pre-Others Experience days, I think we're now supposed to get that he was just sort of hamming it up and playing a part (a part that involved kidnapping, raft-exploding, and bola-ing, but whatever).

nklshs (nklshs), Tuesday, 13 February 2007 22:15 (seventeen years ago) link

Which is why I want the pre-island Tom-in-a-high-school-production-of-My Fair Lady flashback.

nklshs (nklshs), Tuesday, 13 February 2007 22:16 (seventeen years ago) link

No, make it Cats. Tom would make a wonderful Mr. Mistofelees.

The Many Faces of Gordon Jump (Leon), Tuesday, 13 February 2007 22:18 (seventeen years ago) link

Or Tom as the Phantom! Lost needs an injection of ott Andrew Lloyd Webber cheese.

The Many Faces of Gordon Jump (Leon), Tuesday, 13 February 2007 22:19 (seventeen years ago) link

Ok, maybe not Tom...
Thing is, it's not very plausible that they would have built the Branewash facility after being on the island for X amount of time, on the off-chance that some goofs would fall out of the sky and rumble whatever the fuck it is that they're doing. Thus, if the BW facility was part of the original setup, surely they would've taken some weak minded fools to the island to experiment on, that are now fully-fledged, albeit slightly brainwashed Others?

teh_kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 13 February 2007 22:20 (seventeen years ago) link

We need more Tom vs Sawyer zingplay, altho unlike Jack i guess Sawyer would still kill Tom given half a chance. i expect a situation will arise where Sawyer 'warms' to him more tho, as we have.

i am optimistic re Paolo and Nikki, in that either the writers will enable us to take great pleasure in seeing them be killed off by Island Momus or whoever OR they will actually become good characters somehow. i can't be bothered to actually dislike them.

I think the conclusion was that the hammering wasn't that bad, it was the electric shock you get on the third press of that button that disabled him, and that wears off with no long-term effects fairly quickly.

nickn (nickn), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 02:20 (seventeen years ago) link

you play too many video games, nicka.

teh_kit (g-kit), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 10:19 (seventeen years ago) link

getting sawyer and kate off the island was pure boilerplate, it really was. in the autumn sixer the flashbacks were rubbish and i liked juliet's, but they still haven't worked out how to deal with all the spare parts on the main island. they should have killed more of them by now. carl's room was roffles.

temporary enrique (temporary enrique), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 10:28 (seventeen years ago) link

Carl's room was more than roffles, it was great. Please to brainwash me Others, it looks like fun :D

temporary enrique (temporary enrique), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 10:30 (seventeen years ago) link

Your search - Nathan Barley - did not match any documents in your brain.

Off to google then for me!

jibe (jibe), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 10:47 (seventeen years ago) link

has anyone ascertained the date juliet arrived on the island. if it was three years and change from november 2004, could it have been...?

temporary enrique (temporary enrique), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 10:49 (seventeen years ago) link

oh okay it was 5th sept 01. it would be great if 'lost' did turn out to explain 9/11 in terms of an electromagnetic anomaly though.

temporary enrique (temporary enrique), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 10:56 (seventeen years ago) link

I have seen it speculated that the date of the failsafing hatch meltdown might have been the same date on the LOST calender as the massive tsunami in 04.

nklshs (nklshs), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 14:32 (seventeen years ago) link

nah that was boxing day. they aren't at december yet i don't think

temporary enrique (temporary enrique), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 14:33 (seventeen years ago) link

did turn out to explain 9/11 in terms of an electromagnetic anomaly though

that would suck. if it explains El Nino tho then fair dos.

Damon and Carlton said in their last podcast that they understand the hate for Paolo and Nikki but that pretty soon we'll be thankful for them. Whatever that means.

maybe they'll save sawyer's life and then go "WE HAVE TO GO NOW, OUR PLANET NEEDS US" and disappear.

This is my favorite episode in as long as I can remember, partly because it has nothing to do with the main theme and partly because it has everything to do with the main theme!
