Newspapery conference. either that or purgatory.

It can't be as bad as music conferences - songwriting workshops, guerilla marketing seminars, afforementioned "demo derby"s, etc.

i have been to many conferences, some with boring parts

i have not done kegels while at them though, that i recall. [tmi sentence]

impermanent rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Friday, 16 February 2007 23:49 (seventeen years ago) link

Reasons kegels are good:

1. Wake you up
2. No one can tell
3. Good for girl-parts health
4. Kind of hawt

Laurel (Laurel), Saturday, 17 February 2007 02:43 (seventeen years ago) link

I was at a conference today too. But it was on copyright so I thought it was interesting and enjoyed it because I'm pathetic and geeky.

The Many Faces of Gordon Jump (Leon), Saturday, 17 February 2007 02:53 (seventeen years ago) link

otm. my tmi sentence said that in more tmi ways - also, sometimes they can, uh, wake you up too much
xpost

that is a good thing to be geeky about!

impermanent rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Saturday, 17 February 2007 02:55 (seventeen years ago) link

i mean, i've been to conferences with more than one panel on, like, comic books, and enjoyed the whole thing even though i knew nothing about comic books (i now know some stuff)

impermanent rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Saturday, 17 February 2007 03:00 (seventeen years ago) link

i have to go to one in a couple weeks and it is going to be sooo boring and about databases -_- but i get to go to san diego!!!

plus you get lots of blinking necklaces with company logos and fake beanie babies and laser pens. someday i will find a use for these things.

has anyone ever actually sat and listened to all of "I am sitting in a room" that didn't have to do it for school?

chaki (chaki), Saturday, 17 February 2007 05:46 (seventeen years ago) link

i make a living off of conferences.

ive had to sit through too many.

the best are the marketing ones. the worst are leagal or medical ones. the most hilarious one was a conference for b0tox. pharma reps are like the cool kids you never hung out with in high school and b0tox reps are like trhe cool kids in a high school of nothing but pharma reps.

i didnt have to work today though, i got high and hit golf balls instead.

go to hillcrest and waste a few hours in the gay bookstores. and go eat a gyros plate in that greek restaurant with the blue and white decor.

Yes, but only a few times. Usually I skip straight to side 2. Which basically just sounds like it could fit on selected ambient II.

if someone brings waffles, fruit and coffeee to your room at 7:30, morning is nice!

I had a business room once with a river view, a fireplace, and a bathroom the size of my current kitchen (also hot tub). I could have stayed a lot longer than two days. No room service, tho.

children of mentalists (get bent), Saturday, 17 February 2007 07:36 (seventeen years ago) link

how do i shot business trip + hotel room? the extent of my work traveling is usually taking the subway downtown to the county clerk and state dept. but at least i get $4 from that (i use my metro card but get to charge for 2 $2 train trips!).

my next "business trip" (the apa conference in philly) i'm footing the bill for airfare + my part of a shared hotel room, but the apa is reimbursing me for the actual conference fee (already discounted student rate) because i'm giving them a few hours of volunteer time. hopefully they'll give me some time off to go eat cheesesteaks!
