Because it starts next Wednesday and I want to build up some preliminary excitement before the massive letdown that's forthcoming.

Dom Passantino (DomPassantino), Thursday, 28 December 2006 19:14 (seventeen years ago) link

Carol Lee Scott was "Grotbags" in The Rod Hull Show, btw. If K-Fed is on the show I'll eat my poorly selling hat. Courtney Love has a real inevitability about it, huh?

Dom Passantino (DomPassantino), Thursday, 28 December 2006 19:15 (seventeen years ago) link

You think Tara Reid would be intimidated by spending five weeks in the company of a celebrity as famous as Jason Cundy?

Dom Passantino (DomPassantino), Thursday, 28 December 2006 19:19 (seventeen years ago) link

Danielle Lloyd is the woman who (certainly didn;t) win the Miss Britain title by sucking off Teddy Sheringham. Matthew Stiff is the second fattest one in G4.

LAUREN HARRIES FTW

Dom Passantino (DomPassantino), Thursday, 28 December 2006 19:21 (seventeen years ago) link

Add Shilpa Shetty and Whitney Houston to that potential housemate list.

Tom Stephens

The Bishop's too big a star for something as poxy as this.

Dom Passantino (DomPassantino), Thursday, 28 December 2006 19:28 (seventeen years ago) link

Speaking of Bishops, I would love to see Ian 'Harold' Smith on a reality show.

Chap (chap), Friday, 29 December 2006 01:50 (seventeen years ago) link

The only name I've seen in the 'advance' list was Leilani.

I think she's a plant.

Oh, boom boom!

Dom Passantino (DomPassantino), Tuesday, 2 January 2007 02:17 (seventeen years ago) link

The theme of this series should be "OK, so we aint gonna top last years, it's impossible, hey watch anyway"

M Grout (Mark Grout), Tuesday, 2 January 2007 02:23 (seventeen years ago) link

Also Jade Goody plus her entire family, apparently.

M Grout (Mark Grout), Tuesday, 2 January 2007 03:06 (seventeen years ago) link

I reckon it's all a load of disinformation. The rumours last year were wild and we ended up with people no-one had guessed (Maggot, anyone?)

I'm guessing "not Hasselhof" as he's doing some theatre thing in February, and presumably spending the runup time rehearsing, right?

M Grout (Mark Grout), Tuesday, 2 January 2007 12:08 (seventeen years ago) link

That would apparently be correct, yes.

Tommy Sheridan's supposedly turned them down too.

What is it with the modern obsession with David Hasselhoff, that just mentioning his name makes everyone giggle? How can one figure remain so drolly kitsch for so long?

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 10:23 (seventeen years ago) link

As long as he continues to be a completely ridiculous self-parody with absolutely no conception of what people actually think of him (see also Shatner, William)

many people seem to have very low standards of humour.

lexpretend (lexpretend), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 11:34 (seventeen years ago) link

To be fair, Hassehoff is funnier than Justin Lee Collins.

Johnny Cash Rules Everything Around Me (Modal Fugue), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 11:35 (seventeen years ago) link

Justin Lee Collins is a twat. As is anyone who needs him to tell them who to like ironically. As is anyone who likes anyone ironically, come to think of it.

(I hate the phrase "liking something ironically", but I can't think of a better one right now. While searching for a better phrase to explain what I mean, btw, I came across this which is horrific and was evidently written by someone who doesn't understand irony)

ailsa_xx (ailsa_xx), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 11:52 (seventeen years ago) link

Ailsa, do you really think the Hoff doesn't know that people find him funny? I had always kind of assumed he did.

So far Channel 4 has given some clues about the contestants, saying that one person rates Baywatch - Hasselhoff's former show - as their favourite TV programme.

Another is an expert fly-fisher, while two others have attended a dance school and a convent respectively.

One is obsessed with Formula 1 motor racing, another still lives with her mother, while two of the celebrities have servants, according to the broadcaster.

lexbot (ailsa_xx), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 21:34 (seventeen years ago) link

I found it strangely warming how Leo remembered meeting Cleo a long time ago. How nice, to think of the early 80s celebrity party circuit.

Jo seems nice and down to earth.

Jermaine seemed to be hoping to recognise someone, and was disappointed at every entrance.

Dirk makes me smile, for him, not A-Team nostalgia. It sounded like the same bloke shouting "We love you Face" as shouted "Who are ya?" at the Sunday Mirror woman.

I wonder if Peaches' boyfriend will find an ally in there at all.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 21:35 (seventeen years ago) link

TS - knowing full well Dirk Benedict wants some of that Hasselhoff/Mr T cash vs turning up in the A-Team van was really fucking cool.

Obviously he is the absolute dead cert nailed on winner so here's hoping one of the housemates ends up fucking Ken Russell in order to keep things interesting.

Cleo = Suzie. Broing.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 21:37 (seventeen years ago) link

(I have just turned over to that celebrity singing thing and Tito Jackson is on the panel. Are we importing them all one by one? And why is Janet Ellis doing this instead of CBB?)

I think Donny and Danielle will be first off*. Dirk seems to be trying too hard. I like Jo and Leo, and Ken will be fun. I think H will be OK.

* though if this "housemate to be adopted by BB family next door" thing is indeed involving Jade's family, then I hope Donny goes there instead

ailsa_xx (ailsa_xx), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 21:38 (seventeen years ago) link

fuck jade's family. (not literally, though. JESUS CHRIST, no.)

Oh, definitely the former. When Justin Lee Collins wheeled his shitty nostalgia-fest into town, the dollar signs must have been whirling in his eyes. Why the fuck not? People fall for it. He still won't win.

I've sent you the track Dancefloor Looker - you can only hear Grace if you listen clearly, she sort of moans in the background. It's on of the more slowed down, primal ones.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 21:57 (seventeen years ago) link

Jo and maybe Dirk if he calms down a bit are the only ones I would at all like to be stuck in a small house with. Jermaine looked incredibly miffed that more people weren't recognising him. Why do people like Leo? He'd intensely irritating and possibly some kind of sex pervert.

Chap (chap), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 21:58 (seventeen years ago) link

Donny Tower of Twattishness 'I'm so rock'n'roll, me' looks like he's modelling for Top Shop. Leo Sayer isn't bad... yet. Cleo could go either way. I'mshaggingafootballer McNonentity-Jones needs to die. Jo & H = meh. Tabloid woman = don't know her, but don't like her. Ken is God but will probably die halfway through.

I just flicked on the live E4 feed and heard Danielle say "I just don't want to see ––––––'s meat and two veg again" and H and Carol nodded their agreement as the sound cut out. Rewinding the Humax, it sounded like "Bottom J's meat and two veg", but I don't think there's anyone in it called "Bottom J" so maybe she was talking about her life outside the house.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 23:52 (seventeen years ago) link
