lxy. i don't have a car, so, no. and i can't rent one because you need a full licence to do that and in australia your provisional licence lasts for 3 years after you pass the test (wtf). i may never drive again.

thanks, i did! i love it there. was a shame germany didn't make the final but the playoff was lots of fun. fiji was also very nice. now i'm back in england. but i will be in america, including seattle, in august - is that where you all are??

Also, I love Seattle, probably too much. What kind of things do you like to do? There are many options here. Pike Place Market, Space Needle, Ride the Ducks, Underground Tour, EMP, all the standard stuff - but also, swimming in Lake Washington if it's a hot day, going to a neighborhood farmers market on Saturday morning, eating gelato outside of Cafe Umbria. The Blue Angels will be zooming overhead b/c of Seafair.

walk around the newish amazing library, ferry back and forth to see town, drink and go out in pike/pine, thai or vietnamese or sushi amazingfood in whatever neighborhood, go to the park that overlooks the city from queen anne, light rail it to/from the airport or beacon hill or columbia city, walk the sculpture park

in san simeon near hearst castle. we couldn't go any further today because josh was extremely hungover and had to stop driving. big sur was cool and we also liked portland and yosemite and arcadia in oregon a lot. we failed to spend any time in san francisco but that's ok because i've been there before. the worst place we've seen is modesto. i like american motels and hot sauces - we don't really have either in england.

tomorrow...LA hopefully. what should we do in LA?

oh we've also really enjoyed all the big trees redwoods sequoia etc very good

Taco Mesa in what used to be a Taco Bell in Irvine/Costa Mesa is incredibly good, would highly recommend. I never got to the Getty when I was working down there, but heard many good things about it.

i always had good luck looking up the gallery listings in the weekly and then getting led somewhere where the gallery would just be one cool part of the street scene.

i always hate LA during the day, but then if i go out i love it, the nights can be #magical#

I have been hearing that Sheryl Crowe song in my head ever since yesterday.

yes i had it in my head a lot when i was there too

LA....what a crazy place. i was expecting it to be big and weird but it way bigger and weirder. it kind of reminded me of beijing (lol)...just the vastness of it. we drove around for hours and hardly got anywhere, and there were no people. santa monica and the venice canals were nice. we got a good view from the observatory at night and we went to the getty, which was great. keen to go back.

this is what i thought when i was there, too! it was really weird.

i was all set to really hate LA before i'd ever even been there, but i love it. i don't know why. it's a just a ~vibe~ i guess.
