tell ari that we're always looking for artists to collaborate with, we pay v v v v little since no one buys our books but it's still pretty awesome

actually, we need someone to illustrate a poem we're doing as a broadside soon (nb when i say 'illustrate' i mean do a cool pic that will complement the work, not like, an actual illustration of the work)

smoove operator, Friday, 3 July 2009 04:47 (eleven years ago) link

hey now! i think it's probably safe to say that all of the sandbox is impressed. gee.

lxy, Friday, 3 July 2009 04:58 (eleven years ago) link

tehresa your salmon dish is a work of intense, fleeting beauty, like a Navajo sand painting that's lovingly crafted over untold hours, only to be raked into nothingness ("eaten") minutes after its completion. yessir, you might say I'm impressed.

unregistered, Friday, 3 July 2009 05:05 (eleven years ago) link

that's really nice but actually there are leftovers so it's not gone!
also the salmon wasn't that great (still adapting to electric stove ps that is a panko wasabi crust).

tehersa (tehresa), Friday, 3 July 2009 05:18 (eleven years ago) link

leftover fish can bring endless joy if you break it up into bite-sized bits and mix it into a pot of (already cooked) couscous.

I've cooked salmon on a foreman grill a bunch of times. it comes out nicely, though if you're not careful it can end up overly dry b/c too much of the juice tends to leak into the drip tray. I don't really know my way around an electric stove either.

unregistered, Friday, 3 July 2009 05:30 (eleven years ago) link

i am scared my next apt might have an electric stove. i hate them :(
salmon looks good. what's in the middle? bok choy?

spite n ease (harbl), Friday, 3 July 2009 10:33 (eleven years ago) link

thank u lxy! guess i'll just have to experiment

smoove operator, Monday, 6 July 2009 06:12 (eleven years ago) link

this reminds me to buy turmeric.
it's funny, when stocking a kitchen, how you forget about valuable spices like turmeric. they can really add a lot!

harbls, did you have a cut on your hand that sliced the jalapeno?

tehersa (tehresa), Monday, 6 July 2009 10:42 (eleven years ago) link

no visible cuts but maybe my hands are dry and have tiny ones

spite n ease (harbl), Monday, 6 July 2009 10:57 (eleven years ago) link

smoove, that looks great. It reminds me of the vintage tourist photo/postcard books. Do you make the hand-laid paper (if that's what it is - it looks like it on my monitor) too?

jaq, Monday, 10 August 2009 21:17 (eleven years ago) link

thanks!

nope, we don't make the paper (the books would probably take us a year to make, if we did), we just hunt around at art supply stores. that decorative paper is actually made with banana leaves.

i'm never going to finish the thing that goes in the place holder. it is a sweater. it fits just right except i had to redo the neck because it was bigger than i wanted. but i had to just guess what to do with it and i guessed wrong so i'll do it when i have more patience. but i am also still working on second sock (it needs like 4 more inches argh) and i just started a hat. oopsss too many things
