i am not drunk. but i have made myself a cocktail (goslings black seal -- see rum thread) and am settling in after the long haul of the week which included relentless helicopters (due to the sinkhole -- see seattle thread), core drilling in the office below mine, and, this evening, a crew of arborists trimming the holly hedge next to the house. and then sending the branches through a chipping machine. and then using a gas-powered blower to send the stray leaves into the neighbor's yard. noisy week.

as kells says, it's the freakin weekend baby i'm about to have me some fun (see NP thread).

and since we're talking about the hedge, it is important to note that those butchers chopped to its very nub the beautiful tree hydrangea that has been manfully blooming despite the oppression of the holly for lo, these many years. despite the over-preciousness of it, i always call it the snowball tree. see why:

it was just coming into bloom, and now it is sawn branches. but as stated above, it's a manful thing, and i have no doubt it will be back next year. fuckers can't keep beauty down.

i would like to add that the word "manful" makes me laugh A LOT. i expect i'll be giggling about it all night.

juice of 1/2 a fresh grapefruit + gin, shaken, over ice.

simple yet wonderful!

apparently this is called a greyhound.

my understanding is that a greyhound = vodka + grapefruit juice

a cursory google search indicates that my understanding is limited, though not entirely incorrect

the search told me the same thing, max. my sister told me it was a greyhound.

perhaps it is like a martini, where you can have vodka or gin, but all the cool ppl drink them with gin.
