it sounds fun, and a little more feasible today than it seemed yesterday.

this is tonight at the good shepherd center:
Through a handful of media, Jim Haynes defines his work with the simple phrase "I rust things." Specifically, he has focused on how decay parallels and relates to the perception of time when cycles of activity dwindle toward stasis. Through this research, sound has emerged as a central medium for his current installations and performances. Drawing from shortwave radio static, electric field disturbances, controlled feedback manipulation, and numerous textural scrapings, he aims towards a broken minimalism whose magnetic drones lend the impression of timelessness, when in fact the environment is quite active. This engineering of disparate materials and media seeks to evince the unpredictability of decay, to manifest its potential for a rough-hewn beauty, and to bear witness to its inevitability.
Eric Lanzillotta has been involved in sound in various aspects over the last two decades. In this time, a few fragments have been released for public consumptions on labels such as Anomalous Records, Selektion, Alluvial Recordings, Beta-Lactam Ring Records, RRRecords, EE Tapes and Jnana Records. Some of these recordings have involved collaborations with Ralf Wehowsky, Andrew Chalk, and John Hudak. He has also contributed to recordings by Hands To, AMK, Ultra, Edward Ka-Spel, irr.app.(ext.), and Dropp Ensemble. As a live performer, he has appeared in United States, Canada and Japan, both solo and in duets with Bernhard Günter, Aube, and Withdrawal Method. In recent years, he has focused on live analog electronics. Each performance is improvised with a focus on creating long form works which follow the path of the electronics' subtle changes, a music of timbres and textures rather than notes and melodies where the main activity of the music is in the details.

and on the 18th:
NO WEST is a music festival dedicated to developing the fast-growing community of Northwest improvisers. This year 36 improvisers from Vancouver B.C., Portland, Bellingham, Olympia, Seattle, NYC, California, & Tokyo will perform in Seattle & Portland. This year the festival will also be opening its doors to improvisers working in the fields of dance and poetry. The festival is designed to present improvised music in both informal and formal settings. Each city will host a semi-private daytime show at a player's home, followed by an evening performance at a public venue. This provides an enriching opportunity for both improvisers and the community.
This year's performers include: Jen Baker, Liz Allbee, Shane Ronet, Bob Jones, Eric Ostrowski, David Able, Kelvin Pittman, Wil Shook, Simon Henneman, Robert Pedersen, David Grove, Bob Gallup, Seth Nehil, Mark Kaylor, Cristin Miller, Gregory Reynolds, Melanie Noel, Yuki Enomoto, Corey Fuller, Tyler Wilcox, Ezra Dickenson, Heather Vergotis, Ben Kates, Rob Baxter, JP Jenkins, Robert j Kirkpatrick, Matt Carlson, Amelia Reeber, Gust Burns, Jason E Anderson, Jonathan Sielaff, Jeff Huston, Scott Goodwin, Arrington De Dionysio, Jamie Potter, Cam Stevens.

― lxy, Monday, 5 November 2007 21:32 (sixteen years ago) link
one idea i had at the time but didn't mention because it could get weird would be to go into each others wallets like once every couple days and take a dollar--who'd notice, right--and then squirrel it away somewhere and then buy expensive cheese.
