it was weird and we are ok and i don't mean tto cause any undue consternaton on the parts of others because at least i for one am always ok but it felt worth cataloging. mostly to try to imagine waht the next revive will be. what kind of emergency>? to whom? my mom used to make me watch soap operas after school.

i like the resilience of 'i for one am always ok'.

if/when i have any emergencies i will bring them directly here.

this is worth restating in my opinion:

a fan fell out of my second story window in the middle of the night. i found it in the front yard. what a noise it must have made.

apparently they're having trouble putting it out.

there are firemen and metro technicians crawling all over it. no visible flames, though.

they sent the fire truck away and then called it back. it has the most lamentable, woebegone siren i've ever heard.

be sure to breathe in as much smoke as possible so you can lose as many brain cells as i did the other night

if people want to catalog emergencies of the past that's cool too

i just called 911 for the first time in my life

was shaking and voice cracking!

i wish i could say the person is ok but i have no idea

oh yeah just a work thing, everything's fine. a patron went into seizure and everyone freaked out and i had to be right there and call 911. (i'm always ok)

yeah, it used to for me too. i still think about the girl i saw lying in the street in tokyo, shaking, staring up at the sky. that was 5 years ago.

it happens so often at my work though*, and i have to respond in a calm, professional way. emotions come 2nd maybe

this does happen frequently at perf. arts places! once when my sister worked for rpo, a lady who had gone senile decided to sit down on a chair in the lobby and use it like a toilet. it was so sad.

on friday a woman at my work encountered the leavings of a bank robbery at a bus stop by our building:

big pile of money spewing red dye and pepper spray.

she had to talk to two different kinds of police and the fbi!

wow!

i think about trying to pass off inkstained bills all the time. i wonder how that would go

VP told us to close the offices at 3:30 if we felt the need to get on the road before dark/freezing/crowding. EVERYONE felt the need.

2 weeks vacation starts 1.5 hours early!

brilliant dude interviewed on the news after apartment fire (everyone ok):

your first thought is to grab everything you can but then you realize you just have to get what's most important to you: your dog, your girlfriend, yourself.

emergencies overlapping: the bin is frozen shut so i had to put the kitchen compost into the (still outside) waste can instrumental in our first emergency.

there's an inch of ice at the bottom of that garbage can

i had a dream the other night that i was outside a party lying on a camp stretcher next to some other people on camp stretchers and we were talking about non-smoking zones and i said, 'i'll tell you what isn't a non-smoking zone, MY BED' and a lit cigarette appeared by magic in my hand so i drew on it with gusto feeling very pleased with myself. i stopped smoking a long time ago but i don't need dr freud to tell me i still secretly love it.
and in the same dream tza was living at the ymca and writing long entertaining posts about it.
and at one stage i was rummaging through my bag looking for my keys while singing lxy's praises to whoever was with me, i don't know who it was because i wasn't looking at them, my whole attention was focused on the black lining of my bag.

last night i had a dream that i had met up with some people from high school. male and female, but i can't remember the number nor who it was. it was my understanding that we were going for a hike, but instead everyone started going for a run. so i was all wtf thanks for telling me guys but i ran anyway. later on i was running by myself when i noticed that the whole time i had been running in just tighty whiteys instead of shorts. i felt so aw shucks silly because i hadn't even realized it. i caught up with my friends and told them about this and we all had a good chuckle.

i am having a good chuckle now as well.

a man stole a car in the mercer garage and then ran into a wall so hard that we could hear it in the office. car parts and pieces spilled over onto the street and the horn started and wouldn't stop. i walked onto the k-prom and followed him as he ran past the fountain. i called 911 and we had a chat.

i had to stop reading it b/c of embarrassing outbursts of laughter

ok i got more details when i went over and looked at the car

a construction worker across the street heard his car alarm going off and went to investigate. he found a pair of guys had stolen his stereo. he found them--i'm not sure where, near his car or just in the garage--and punched one of them. the guys took off in a white ford taurus. stolen? their own? they were driving way too fast in the garage and hit a wall, moving the wall and inflating the airbags. one of the guys cracked his head against the window. i could see where his head hit it. then the guys took off in different directions. that's where i came in, following the one guy.

the construction worker related the story to me and i gave my story to the seattle center cops. exciting!

also a super sketchy guy came to the window later and tried to get a refund on a ticket of a donor's. we called the donor and reprinted the tickets and told the guy we couldn't help him. he was SKETCHY, this guy.

things are busy for the center police lately!

there were soooo many emergency vehicles piling onto campus, and they pretty much immediately started piling off.
