PC laptop - interface choices

Hello All,

I have gotten a new laptop and want use it to make music. What kind of interfaces do you like or not like?

From what I am reading, I'm leaning towards either getting a PCMCIA card to add a firewire port or maybe going for the E-Mu 1616m which is a PCMCIA interface.

god i wish i had that kind of $$ t throw around

im using a ~$30 creative sound blaster usb external. it has stereo rca in/out, 1/8" in(+V)/out, optical in/out (never used it) . pretty low noise ive used it for recording and playing out--

anyway u might want to keep something like that in mind as a backup for recording ideas or playing shitty shows-- tho perhaps youre planning on some minimal 'no noise allowed' stuff whereas im doing kind of a lofi discohouse (scr)emo thing. hahaha
