oh i would have read that book when i was younger for sure

i like david lynch a lot and don't really expect anything but a weird interview from him - he never seems outright crazy or anything, just weird, different, lynch. admittedly, this interview leans a bit more towards crazy, but conspiracy talk is always like that. i don't know what to think about these conspiracies anyway - i do like the "it's too big, it's just too big" part though - that's the most awesome part about conspiracies "it's bigger than us, it's bigger than all of us! it's so big you have no idea how big it is! if you knew how big it was you wouldn't be able to deal with it". awesome.

impermanent rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Thursday, 7 December 2006 15:38 (seventeen years ago) link

Read it now! It is awesome and creeeepy in very uncommercial (ie non-RL Stine-type creepy) way.

Laurel (Laurel), Thursday, 7 December 2006 15:43 (seventeen years ago) link

He's speaking in reaction to having just seen a (french?) film on the 9/11 conspiracy.

sexyDancer (sexyDancer), Thursday, 7 December 2006 15:45 (seventeen years ago) link

hes less looney here than that clip where hes sitting with a cow on the street in la.

bb (bbia), Thursday, 7 December 2006 15:48 (seventeen years ago) link

to me, conspiracy fans tend to come off more shit-stupid than anything else.

on the other hand - i would welcome the cow clip with open arms.

jhoshea (jhoshea), Thursday, 7 December 2006 16:30 (seventeen years ago) link

If there was going to be a conspiracy about 9/11 it would be that the upper echelons of Al Q. or some faction within it was actually being controlled/manipulated by the CIA/UN/NWO/FEMA/RIAA

it was the riaa trying to supress 1st week sales of the blueprint - too many samples, it used too many samples, man.

immature belief in the power of the individual?

sexyDancer (sexyDancer), Thursday, 7 December 2006 22:16 (seventeen years ago) link

pesci made the dude look a little normal!

my favorite part of the six hour speech at the end of the film is where costner gets choked up.

i liked the parts in season 2 with windham earl and the related creepy stuff (especially in the finale), but the soap opera elements got a little too much.

latebloomer! on the brink of martyrdom (clonefeed), Friday, 8 December 2006 14:40 (seventeen years ago) link

season 2 doesn't actually suck! but it looks much less impressive when compared to the first season.

jhoshea (jhoshea), Friday, 8 December 2006 16:31 (seventeen years ago) link

one time in high school me and like 5 friends ate mushrooms in the woods and we were doing nitrous and my friend pete had some and totally lost his shit. he wasn't freaking out, but he became like preverbal or something - behaving like a confused toddler more or less (this ended up going on for a few hours which was pretty weird). after sitting quietly for a while (mulling his situation over, apparently) he got up, grabed the nitrous cracker (its one of those things you make yr own seltzer with), unscrewed the bottom and threw it in a nearby river, then he dug a hole and buried the top part. it was one of the most strangely hilarious things i've ever seen.

also i went to a vt hippie music festival this summer and found this:

i love the tone that the style of lettering implies.

I actually liked the weird bits that Season 2 went off into, and the civil war schtick.

kingfish in absentia (kingfish), Friday, 8 December 2006 17:18 (seventeen years ago) link

Eitherway, On The Air seems to take place in an alternate universe in which nitrous oxide has replaced oxygen.

sexyDancer (sexyDancer), Friday, 8 December 2006 17:24 (seventeen years ago) link

see, i just get sucked into it again and agina..even though its bad...i should let it die and put my attenions elsewhere

so i was hanging out w/2 people involved in the nitrous incident i mentioned upthread including the offending party and the story just came up spontaneously pete said something about a cracker and jesse goes like the one you threw in the river and i was all omgwtf - haven't heard any talk of said incident in years, weird.
