The reason why I am still here is a question I have asked myself throughout the process, and the answer is not something I can easily put into words. I want to be a part of as [some dude's name] puts it, an accelerated maturation process. The ability to grow as a person is a rare opportunity. I also want to be a part of a second family, a group of brothers, who will always have each other to count on no matter what happens. There are certain things I cannot discuss with my family, so it’s nice to have someone you know you can always talk to and get advice from. I like “educating” to a certain extent, and do not mind when it becomes more difficult, because it allows me to prove to myself, and to my pledgebros that I want to be here, and no amount of push-ups, think-abouts, or alcohol drinking(short of death), will change my mind. The harder it gets, the more it brings us together, and [field trip destination] is a perfect example of that.

The active/alumnus that I most want to be like is [some other dude's name] While I admit I have heard more about him from others then actually from him, I still admire him greatly. The way he balances school, his own t-shirt company, and still finds time to come by the bra and hangout is something I cannot help but respect. I look forward to getting to know him better in the future, and learning from him.

To be honest, I am not sure how I can be more like [other dude again], as it is very difficult to follow in his footsteps. I will make more of an effort to get to know actives that I do not know well. I will help the house anyway I can and will step in to whatever position is needed the most. I will make sacrifices for the house because if others before me did not make sacrifices, [fraternity name] would not be where it is today. I realize that this is a vague answer, however, I feel like the best way I can help is to step in where I am needed, instead of making promises far in advance, because variables can change everything.

jhoshea (jhoshea), Thursday, 7 December 2006 18:57 (nineteen years ago)

yeah, does the phrase "repressed homosexual desire" help explain the pizza phenomenon? though i don't think it's complete suitable explanation -- more about the rituals of shame and humiliation and the sense of camraderie that comes from going through that with other people. they become yr bros! WOOOOOOOOOO

FROM: (NEW EMAIL ADDRESS REDACTED)
SUBJECT: MY CELL!!!

Hi J,

Can you be a doll and pick up my Cell at Annette’s place. Yes, I forgot it there today! ;(

Pleezzzeee!

Let me know!

Penny.

remy bean (bean), Friday, 8 December 2006 06:01 (nineteen years ago)

Dear unknown person named Penny,

I think you have sent this to the wrong address. I do not know of an Annette, except for a third aunt who I haven't talked to in more than a decade. As much as I would love to be a doll and get your phone back, I believe my aunt Annette is quite buried and and thereby incapable of holding your cell in first place. So sorry I can't help.

Good luck though, and may you find soon your phone.

Remy in Los Angeles

PS: Are you in BC? If so, is it damnably cold yet? It's cold here, so cold I let the dog sleep in bed with me as a manner of warming up. He takes up more than his share :(

remy bean (bean), Friday, 8 December 2006 06:03 (nineteen years ago)

My Goodness,

Thank you for letting me know that I sent my email to the wrong address!

The weather is warming up, it was -2 degrees Celsius and raining. It is a lot better than last week it was -38, that was very cold!

Thank you

Penny
