He's my neighbor, can be found weekdays around 6:30am on H8 St. smoking a gitane and reading Descartes in French, dressed like a dapper darling.

i fondly imagine m white to spend his days in a manner befitting one of the happier characters from a pg wodehouse novel. in short: he rules.

grimly fiendish (simon), Thursday, 7 December 2006 13:23 (seventeen years ago) link

I doubt you'll ever see him posting on the dirtbag thread.

Haha it has now occurred to me that a flat cap and turtleneck sweater is possibly the wrongest sartorial combination ever created (exception as always: Steve McQueen)

-- Euai Kapaui (tracerhan...), December 8th, 2006.

?? No it's not. Or if it is, I spend much of my winter committing sartorial misdeeds.

Hello, everybody. What an odd surprise this is.

what was the name of the rabbit he lived with in paris again? chou chou something?

Where did I mention that?

Unfair unless you mean Jeeves, all the rest are very dim bulbs indeed.

if i recall correctly m. white, you have mentioned it on several occasions!

I really want to photoshop pictures of M. White into situations that only HE could turn into classy gigs.

Michael, you talked about the rabbit on the thread where Laura posted pictures of all of her rabbits and guinea pigs and all of that. You said the rabbit, chou chou, ate through many things and looked like one of the rabbits she had posted. I don't know why I can clearly remember this but cannot remember, for example, my own home phone number but there you go.

Allyzay is cool: with Blue n White, with Eli Manning, with NY Giants (Allyzay Ei, Monday, 11 December 2006 19:48 (seventeen years ago) link

i also remember this! i think the mental image of m white with a fluffy rabbit is somehow super vivid

impermanent rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Monday, 11 December 2006 19:50 (seventeen years ago) link

Now, I remember, Ally.

My then gf and I would smoke hash and go next door to the Luxembourg Gardens to let Chou Chou run around. People are not allowed on the grass there but the signs never said anything about rabbits. The Senate cops would watch us calling him for ages trying to get him to come back so we could go back home but he'd scamper around for ages, the little fucker.

^^ Perfect example of why M White is awesome.

ALLAH FROG (Mingus Dew), Tuesday, 12 December 2006 08:08 (seventeen years ago) link

M White's week:

Monday - Watched 'Murder on the Orient Express' for the umpteenth time and drank gift bottle of Tuscan w/ woh won ton soup and kung pao green beans and shrimp, while the heavens stormed. I am an excellent cat bed.

Tuesday - Pick up newly tailored tuxedo then drinks and pinball w/ best friend

Wednesday - French tutoring and then?

Thursday - Café Claude w/pals to watch my friend, Marcus Shelby, play.

Friday - Pick up Xmas tree then birthday dinner w/family at CAV.

Saturday - Big society Xmas party. I will be the one in front of the caviar station with 2 glasses of champagne (one in reserve in case of lines at the bar) in front of me wearing an expression similar to that of a dog who has just found a particularly delicious bone and growling at party-goers who wish access to the food.

Sunday - More champagne and delectable provender at my house. Extravagant gay friends to bring over-the-top decorations for the tree. Expect cats on tables going after food, penis-themed ornaments and much, much camp.

DĂ©nouement:

Monday - Liver failure aggravated by lung disease fells our once-young hero right at the end of his prime. He regrets only having but one life to give to his cats.

I leave it up to y'all to arrange the State Funeral.

Lock thread, surely?

Laurel (Laurel), Tuesday, 12 December 2006 15:17 (seventeen years ago) link

The last time I went to my local bar to grab a drink with a friend from my scrabble club, noneother than M. White shows up and asks to join our table. It made for an amusing evening. He's first class.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Tuesday, 12 December 2006 18:21 (seventeen years ago) link

lucky you! love this guy.

urghonomic (gcannon), Tuesday, 12 December 2006 18:45 (seventeen years ago) link

What's her name, Steve? That was fun.

I walk into bar in search of adult libation, spot Steve, say 'hi', he introduces friend whose name, due to my rather copious toping that evening, escapes me.

Her (slightly mocking tone): "So, just get back from a date?"
Me: ????
Steve: "No, he's always dressed like that."

Haha, her name's Maria. Michael is ALWAYS dressed to a T. The one time I saw him kinda sweating it out, he had this full-on Hemmingway linen/chino ensemble.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Tuesday, 12 December 2006 19:02 (seventeen years ago) link

Can't seem to locate any of those Mikey And The ChiX0rs Go Boating photos, the ones with the champers and the laughter and our man in a Frenchie striped t-shirt.

Ruud Haarvest (KenL), Tuesday, 12 December 2006 19:05 (seventeen years ago) link

Monsieur Haarvest, I was, iIrc, wearing cordovan cap-toed shoes, brown corduroys, a charcoal colored cardigan, one of my tweed coats and caps and a really, rather honestly, ratty scarf, but by the standards of The Page, I was 'dressed up' however excentrically.

You don't see me on those days when I go to fetch coffee at The Grind wearing a cap, my robe and tartan pajama bottoms and looking like someone who's just come off his meds.
