anyone going to the revival of Company?

I didn't even know there was one! I love Company.

Another chance to disapprove,
Another brilliant zinger,
Another reason not to move,
Another vodka stinger.

I'll drink to that.

I probably have the original album on used vinyl, but as I figured it stood a chance of being staged again I've never listened to it. I liked the (somewhat scorned by Sondheimites) revival of Follies a few years ago, so if I can get into this for $50 or less I may go.

I should see/listen to Company. I think I would like it. I love A Little Night Music, and it's roughly same period.

man i watched most of the Broadway doc series on pbs on new years day. A bit brief and meedlebrow (pbs lol) but wow so cool.

also the bits in Low Life about the early days of the grebt wite way are fascinating as all hell (murderous 11 year olds putting on a show, ex-boxers as comedy draw, etc)

I want to see that PBS Broadway thing so bad! can it be Netflixed?

horseshoe (horseshoe), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 18:51 (nineteen years ago)

Is having missed Sweeney Todd enough of a reason even if Company might be better music (is it?)? I think I am focusing my theatergoing on Coast of Utopia/Year of Magical Thinking/Twelfth Night.

Year of Magical Thinking

They made a Joan Didion musical?!

Eric H. (Eric H.), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 20:44 (nineteen years ago)

it's coming. vanessa redgrave.

nuneb (nuneb), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 20:45 (nineteen years ago)

Can she even sing?

Eric H. (Eric H.), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 20:46 (nineteen years ago)

obviously I did not list any musicals; hence, the "theatergoing" rubric

nuneb (nuneb), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 20:51 (nineteen years ago)

though who knows, maybe there's a "Didion!" in the works

Oh man, 9 hrs of Stoppard on Russian philosophy (w/ Ethan Hawke onstage for at least 3 of em) wd make me long for some Bernadette Peters.

Dr M (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 21:11 (nineteen years ago)

well I might go for 3-6 of the hrs, and I've mentioned before that I find Hawke's uncharmingness v watchable. Bernadette Peters is a particularly good torture device.

Broadway: The Golden Age is so much better than the PBS thing.
