I am taking my lead from Ian bcz he is da man -- how is New Years Day for people? There is a 6:10 pm show, when I think more folx will be sentient than at 3:35, or willing to see a 3-hr film at 8:45 on a school nite.

Dr M (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 28 December 2006 14:38 (nineteen years ago)

sounds like a damned fine idea...which thtr?

bb (bbia), Thursday, 28 December 2006 14:53 (nineteen years ago)

IFC Center (exclusive for the foreseeable future, I think). obv Jan 1 being a big moviegoing day, advance tix wd be advisable.

Dr M (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 28 December 2006 15:00 (nineteen years ago)

hmmm...like i can make an advanced decision

bb (bbia), Thursday, 28 December 2006 15:18 (nineteen years ago)

I think if you decide by 2pm on the 1st you'll be OK.

Dr M (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 28 December 2006 15:23 (nineteen years ago)

sounds like a good plan to me, assuming nothing earth shattering happens .

ian (orion), Thursday, 28 December 2006 15:36 (nineteen years ago)

should there be a field trip to the apollo this afternoon?

bb (bbia), Thursday, 28 December 2006 16:00 (nineteen years ago)

I gotta work, and I think the line started assembling at midnight.

Dr M (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 28 December 2006 16:21 (nineteen years ago)

i know, i know....and im here till atleast 330..oh well. im sure the scene is worth checking out though..must be a fantastic scene.

anyway, back to lynch

bb (bbia), Thursday, 28 December 2006 16:30 (nineteen years ago)

yeah I would be more interested in witnessing the spectacle around the theater rather than actually go in and see the body

dmr (dmr), Thursday, 28 December 2006 17:32 (nineteen years ago)

dude! i just found out david lynch is speaking at the AFI theater on my birthday for the inland empire engagement!!!

Tyrone Slothrop (Tyrone Slothrop), Monday, 1 January 2007 16:37 (nineteen years ago)

bb (bbia), Monday, 1 January 2007 16:49 (nineteen years ago)

if I was gonna invite people to lunch i'd pick something better than the Union Square Barnes & Noble

dmr (dmr), Monday, 1 January 2007 17:40 (nineteen years ago)

like the astor place barnes & noble!!

ian (orion), Monday, 1 January 2007 17:50 (nineteen years ago)

IAN WHAT ARE YOU DOING? Have you had breakfast? I imagine all restaurants actually open will be packed but there are two people sleeping on my sofa so I kind of can't cook.

Laurel (Laurel), Monday, 1 January 2007 17:56 (nineteen years ago)

Tyrone Slothrop (Tyrone Slothrop), Monday, 1 January 2007 18:22 (nineteen years ago)

the claudine longet invitational (get bent), Monday, 1 January 2007 18:46 (nineteen years ago)

Tyrone Slothrop (Tyrone Slothrop), Monday, 1 January 2007 19:02 (nineteen years ago)

Raining outside, yo.

Whiney G. Weingarten (whineyg), Monday, 1 January 2007 20:49 (nineteen years ago)

I'm sorry, Morbs. It just isn't that kind of day.

Laurel (Laurel), Monday, 1 January 2007 20:52 (nineteen years ago)

yeah, cosign

the claudine longet invitational (get bent), Monday, 1 January 2007 20:53 (nineteen years ago)

Sorry, this was bad planning as NYD is obv devoted to Recovery Time (and I was offline for 2 days). We'll have to reschedule for sometime in the next 2 weeks? I'll follow yr lead.

Dr M (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 2 January 2007 14:57 (nineteen years ago)

yeah..i was to busy fighting off some severe and acute anxiety to do anything last night :(, but yeah lets get this thing going.

bb (bbia), Tuesday, 2 January 2007 19:39 (nineteen years ago)

I didn't know there was a bar in the lobby of IFC.

sexyDancer (sexyDancer), Tuesday, 2 January 2007 19:44 (nineteen years ago)

I didn't know there was a bar in the lobby of IFC.

not only is there a bar, I think you're also supposed to get first dibs on seating

dmr (dmr), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 18:17 (nineteen years ago)

first rate. my new favorite movie theater.

sexyDancer (sexyDancer), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 18:33 (nineteen years ago)

my roommate saw something there last night, not sure what it was but he said it was good. i need to check this place out.

i'm sorry to say i'm not into the idea of seeing "inland empire" with all y'all, tho. not because y'all ain't all swell, but i'd rather go to a bar and TALK with youse rather than sit around trying to be quiet for three hours. that and ian will only put out if i buy him nachos.

Tyrone Slothrop (Tyrone Slothrop), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 18:35 (nineteen years ago)

The Beast With Many Legs Does Not Walk

sexyDancer (sexyDancer), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 18:42 (nineteen years ago)

well stenc, part of the idea is that ppl will need 3 hrs of drinks AFTER to shake off Inland Empire, but that's cool.

Dr M (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 18:48 (nineteen years ago)

sounds really depressing

coz larry (bundgee), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 18:52 (nineteen years ago)

not nec. There's a couple musical numbers.

Dr M (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 18:54 (nineteen years ago)

six hours with just about anyone, no thanks.

Tyrone Slothrop (Tyrone Slothrop), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 18:55 (nineteen years ago)

O lover of Humanity! (I can attest that jorel can be quiet in the moovies when it's just me tho)

The IFC easy chairs are just weird.

Dr M (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 19:02 (nineteen years ago)

when i saw inland empire i went with a bunch of people and we brought in a bunch of jungle juice and it was good.

chaki (chaki), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 19:04 (nineteen years ago)

i can see where joel is coming from. most people i go to see films with understand that we will not talk about the film untill a day or so later. and in that case, its kinda silly to go planning to sit in the dark and not talk to people...that one reason i never saw the point of the dinner and movie "date" ... less you just plan on making out through the film...or some such..and in this day and age...well who can be botehred

bb (bbia), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 20:40 (nineteen years ago)

IFC seats are way too comfortable

nuneb (nuneb), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 20:52 (nineteen years ago)

im excited for that....MotMI seats are so not comfortable...

bb (bbia), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 21:02 (nineteen years ago)

oh yeah, movie "dates" a waste of time til things are fully developed. (esp when the idiot falls asleep on Chinatown)

ben, at least Out 1 won't be in Anthology's Torquemsda seats.

Dr M (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 21:09 (nineteen years ago)

the movie date died when they closed Schrafft's next to the Beekman

nuneb (nuneb), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 21:55 (nineteen years ago)

the movie date died when El Topo left the Elgin

David RER (Frank Fiore), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 22:03 (nineteen years ago)

funny, El Topo's at the IFC now.

sexyDancer (sexyDancer), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 22:13 (nineteen years ago)

I think you people are just making this stuff up, now.

Laurel (Laurel), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 22:13 (nineteen years ago)

oh yeah i meant to see el topo there. it's not out on dvd aside from some terrible vhs dubs, is it?

false cat (sleep), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 22:25 (nineteen years ago)

ah, it only had a 1 week run in december apparently

edit: nm, it's back for this friday and saturday

false cat (sleep), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 22:27 (nineteen years ago)

no word on the dvds, but one can hope they will follow within a year or two. At least Abkco and Jodorowsky seem back on board.
