The strength of Cumberland Farms has always been our commitment to providing our customers with superior service. The first convenience stores in New England were Cumberland Farms stores. They were established because our founders, Vasilios and Aphrodite Haseotes, who had already built a successful dairy business, knew their customers wanted a more convenient way to purchase their product.
The success Cumberland Farms enjoys can be traced directly to our founders, who were dedicated to making Cumberland Farms known for high quality, everyday low-priced merchandise, cleanliness and courteous, helpful employees.
With an economic environment driven increasingly by service industries, Cumberland Farms has moved into the 21st century as a standard bearer, relying on its heritage and a passion for excellence. Being an industry leader means having the very best and most progressive marketing strategies while offering a wide array of jobs and careers in what is unquestionably the fastest growing segment of the U.S. economy.
In the tradition of our founders, Cumberland Farms continues to offer a wide array of quality products at everyday low prices, while always looking for new ways to better meet the needs of our customers. Value and Service -- it is this unbeatable combination that makes Cumberland Farms, "The Stop That Keeps You Going."

Cumberland Farms is the largest convenience store/petroleum marketer in the Northeast. The Company was founded in 1939 when Vasilios and Aphrodite Haseotes bought a farm, and started a dairy in Cumberland, Rhode Island.
During the early years the Haseotes family operated a rural milk delivery business that succeeded on a value promise that hasn't changed to this day: Give customers the best products and service at the lowest possible price.
What has changed, and what continues to change, however, is how the Company keeps its original promise. The definitions of "convenience" and "value" constantly evolve with the times and Cumberland Farms is evolving with them, allowing the Company to stay ahead of the customer and the competition.
To that end, Cumberland Farms is focused on building new stores and renovating existing stores, continually transforming the Cumberland Farms retail experience. They typically feature a warm, New England-style architecture to complement the local community. Wide aisles and central checkouts make it easy for customers to find what they're looking for. Softer, earth tones and contemporary decor make for a friendlier, more inviting environment. Amenities such as restrooms located within the stores make busy lives easier, and ensure customers will continue to choose Cumberland Farms over the competition.
An ever-expanding product variety keeps Cumberland Farms on top of customer trends and expectations. Fresh sandwiches, healthy beverages and meal replacement bars take their place alongside traditional snacks and drinks. No matter what any particular customer's version of convenience and value might be, Cumberland Farms is determined to deliver it. Along with a good price on gasoline. It's a combination that can't be beat.
How can a company with 1,100 outlets, 7,000 employees and almost $3 billion in sales stay nimble and embrace change? Here's how:
Cumberland Farms is still privately held. The Company's value promise is upheld on a daily basis by Chief Executive Officer Lily Bentas - a daughter of founders Vasilios and Aphrodite. While Ms. Bentas and her management team do not make changes lightly, they make them efficiently and always in the best interests of delivering convenience and value.
Moreover, they see opportunity in change that others sometimes don't. They won't hesitate to modify a store design in order to be more appropriate to the site and the community. They will change the landscaping to be more in keeping with the neighborhood. Decisions like these demonstrate Cumberland Farms' willingness to work with local communities.
"I get a very good feeling when we work closely with local boards and residents." Lily Bentas said. "We're not just opening a store. We're really doing something for the community."
Changes at the corporate management level have also been made. For the first time in 65 years the president of the Company is not a member of the family. Harry Brenner, with over 20 years at the company, succeeded to that position in 2003.
Looking forward, Cumberland Farms plans changes that include new stores, new community programs, more enhancements at the retail level and management training and career development programs. According to Bentas, "I'm proud of what our team is accomplishing - including everyone right down to the person making the coffee in the store, every truck driver, the people who answer the phone in the office, the staff at the plants and in the warehouses. They're the ones who deliver the value promise to hundreds of thousands of customers every day. We couldn't do it without them, and are committed to growing their futures at Cumberland Farms."

Wawa? When people hear "Wawa" for the first time, many don't know what to think. They are not really sure if it's a play on words or an improper pronunciation of a thirst quencher, but there's no doubt that many find it funny. However, don't let our name fool you: we take what we do very seriously.
Over 100 years ago, our original dairy farm was built on land located in a rural section of Pennsylvania called Wawa, which was named from a local Native American tribe in honor of their favored game - the Canada Goose. Today, the name Wawa has come to symbolize the very best attributes of our company.
Just like a majestic flock of Canada Geese flying synchronously in "V" formation, we employ the principles of teamwork, group consensus and encouragement in our company. We think it's the only way to fly. And because of this philosophy, we've been able to accomplish feats that others would consider impossible. That's why, in our market area, our customers tell us that we define what a convenience store should be.

Last year, my life was a mess. Even the simplest things—like finding a great cup of coffee—were tough. I tried that trendy coffee shop near my apartment, but they charged me four bucks for a house blend that was incredibly mediocre. Then I tried making my own. (I don’t want to talk about that.)
Finally, one day last week (it was casual Friday), I had my first sip of ampm coffee. Beanmaster, it was the most delicious and convenient coffee-drinking experience of my life. Now I head to ampm for a fresh cup of coffee and a muffin, first thing every morning. Even though my mornings sometimes start at 2 in the afternoon.
With respect and admiration,Richard
