i disappointed that they got cancelled too early. i had wanted to see Sam in the Katsuhiro Otomo-animated ep.

also, Dean Stockwell is continuing to deliver high quality television performances to this day.

sam's outfits were TERRIBLE - i remember cringing violently at a shiny purple blazer

the wikipedia entry on this show is pretty great. i don't remember a lot of stuff!
also:

"The Battlestar Galactica connection
Much of Quantum Leap's premise comes from another television series Bellisario worked on, the 1978-79 sci-fi series Battlestar Galactica. In the episode "Experiment in Terra" Captain Apollo appears to the people of Terra in the identity of Terran astronaut "Col. Charlie Watts". To them, he looks and sounds just like Charlie even though we the audience see him in is true identity. It is similar to the way Sam looks like whomever he leaps into. He is also guided on his "mission" by John, an intangible person that only Apollo can see and hear. He tells Apollo who everyone sees him as, who the people around him are, and suggests to him what he must do - just as Al helps Sam. The episode was written by Glen A. Larson"

GREAT NEWS FOR FANS

A Bold Leap Forward is a sequel series to the 1989/early 90s science fiction series Quantum Leap that currently remains in development.

The idea of a new series has been brought up since 2002 when the Sci Fi Channel announced plans to add first-run programming to its schedule from existing Universal titles. Quantum Leap was specifically cited along with Tremors as potential series. But while Tremors began and ceased production in 2003, the new Quantum Leap series has yet to enter production.

Information about the series is currently limited, but it has been confirmed that Dean Stockwell will be involved with the series, reprising his role of Al Calavicci. Scott Bakula is likely to return as Dr. Samuel Beckett, albeit in a secondary role. In a 2004 interview, scriptwriter Trey Callaway revealed the series was going to follow Sam Beckett's daughter (whom he conceived in the "Trilogy" episodes during the original series' fifth season) trying to find her father and bring him home. [1] Callaway has since left the project, but has completed a two hour script for the Sci Fi Channel which is reportedly still in active development.

Oswald (Sam): "I admire the president very much!"

Al: "You admire him, but you're gonna kill him."

Oswald: "That's what this is about! You're secret service and you're detaining me because you think I'm going to shoot the president."

Al: "I know you're going to shoot the president. What I wanna know is are you acting alone?"

Oswald: "I don't even own a gun!"

Al: "You own a 6.5mm mannlicher-carcano rifle and an S+W .38 special. The rifle is wrapped in a blanket at Ruth Paine's house and the pistol is at your rooming house at 1026 North Beckley. You ordered both of these guns through the mail under the alias of Alex J. Hidell."

Oswald: "Marina! She told you these lies!"

Al: "Marina told me nothing. But, when questioned, she'll talk about the shot you took at General Walker. And she'll talk about locking you in the bathroom when Nixon come to Dallas because she was afraid that you were going to try and shoot him too!"

Oswald: "I want a lawyer!"

Al: "There's no lawyer here, there's just you and me and the truth!"

Oswald: "I know my rights. I'm a member of the ACLU and I have-"[Cut off by Al who grabs him by the shirt]

Al:[Getting very angry] "You're going to shoot the president from the sixth floor window of the Texas schoolbook depository!"

Oswald: "You're crazy!"

Al: "You're damn right I'm crazy.[Pulls a gun out of his back pocket] I'm crazy enough to blow your brains out through your ear if I don't get the truth!"[Now you see Oswald choking with fear]
