the magazine store is called *newsbreak*. unbelievable selection. i don't think i have ever seen anything like it. it's near a mcdonalds and is in one of those old run-down shopping centers right off of the exit.

Spending most of Christmas eve so far kicking myself for forgetting that liquor stores would be closed.

Bah motherfucking humbug.

my dad lives in bristol, now. this is only my second christmas here!

ian (orion), Sunday, 24 December 2006 21:08 (seventeen years ago) link

we drove around manhattan for a while and there wasn't too much traffic -- a little harlem, a little museum mile, a little rock center xmas tree action, some downtown, and back to brooklyn where we braved the crowds at the red hook fairway. i bought some christmas cheer for later: a belgian white ale spiced with coriander, orange peel, and licorice. mom's cooking steak for dinner.

i'm leaving early morning on the 27th unfortunately, remy. the only night i have potentially free is the 26th, after dinner with the maternal side of the family.

Hi dere!

Did you like Little Miss Sunshine? I thought it was funny at times but also very annoying.

-Tried to see an apt in Harlem but the open house was cancelled
-Ate at Hummus Place
-Saw "Little Children," which was good

i didn't like little miss sunshine. i didn't find it funny at all, just kinda depressing and self-consciously quirky or something. it had a really annoying, hectoring tone that irritated me. also it just... i dunno... wasn't as smart or something as it thought it was. or something.

Merzdub, Lindemann's framboise and Parcells' asswhuppin tonight. Earlier, the most unhealthy breakfast ever devised -- lots of fried eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy (and Lebanese cherry preserves). 8 hrs. later and I'm still full.

Think I'll pack it in and buy a pick-up,
Take it down to LA
Find a place to call my own and try to fix up,
Start a brand new day.

The Jersey bar gig turned out to be a blast. Highlights included

-Huge broseph drunken singalong to "Dust in the Wind"
-drunk snowboarder bro and I standing outside doing "Fame" by David Bowie acapella
-drunk snowboarder bro breathlessly talking about how he'll hook us up with some famous producer who will definitely produce us for free and we'll make money, bartender making fun of him, drunk bro getting genuinely insulted and leaving
-endearing emo dude playing his laptop indie music
-endearing Dave Matthews-like dude playing super drawn-out rendition of Hallelujah with like six false endings
