I had a friend who was completely nuts about Alphaville beyond all reason. Favourite band, obsessed, etc. I made a cassette off him of a few tracks I liked though, and I'm going to dig it out now. *rummages through boxes for about 2 min.* Ah yes, here it is. The songs were "Montego Bay" & "Fools". I think I'll listen to them right now. I wonder if I will still like them.

Well, I guess I'm going to have to pick "Fools" then. Peter Murphy does a better job of being less laughably overwrought goth than "Montego Bay" manages, but I'll give them credit for what they attempted there. You can see what they were trying to do. They had their heart in the right place.

Secret soft spot for "Jerusalem" here.

I see no reason to be crazy about Alphaville in general. The "Forever Young" album - and also about half of "Afternoons In Utopia" will always be classic though.
