Song ID: 80s girl group rap?

This has bugging me. I haven't heard the song in about ten years, so the details are kind of sketchy, but it's suddenly stuck itself into my head. The main hook has the girls singing "I want yoooouuuu, I need you" with a dude that may or may not sound kind of like a cross between Ron Isley & Barrington Levy singing "sha-na-na-na na-na-na" and "Hey baby!" in the background. I'm pretty sure the rap verses all started with "Yo, check it out" or something similiar. Any pointers would be helpful.

Actually, now that I think of it, it was more of an "aw baby" than a "hey baby".
