Track ID (for my mom)

So, my mom gave me a really vague description of some song she heard on the soft rock station. All she remembers is that it was a male singer, and the word 'sign' was used in the chorus (multiple times?). She went through the Billboard adult contemp. chart (1-20), and she said it wasn't any of those...Ideas? Thanks.

Nope. It's not "The Sign" by Ace of Base either. Or "Signs" by Snoop.

More helpful info: his voice is 'nice,' and there are instruments (!).

Better guess - "Sign Your Name", Terence Trent d'Arby

my i-tunes next suggestion =
sign OF the times (ie b.ferry not p.n.nelson)
the sign (mountain goats)
thunderstorms and neon signs (wayne hancock)

btw - i know the word "sign" isn't even in that song, but "time" sounds pretty similar and moms be mishearin' lyrics and not caring.

Thanks, but nope...It's most likely from the 90s, according to her.
