then you need h-ELP (lololololol)

srsly? what's that Pete Sinfield album like?

bliss (blass), Friday, 16 February 2007 07:10 (seventeen years ago) link

The Sinfield album is pretty dreadful as I recall, although I haven't heard it since probably 1984. There was a song on it about health food.

Tim, what's your opinion on Emerson, Lake and Powell?

I'm sure there's a great ELP megamix lurking within their catalogue, if anyone (not me) could be bothered to edit it together.

why not go whole hog, and admit to liking love beach while you're at it?!? i think that that record deserves a dave q-esque "rethink."

Good for you, Tim! I like about one album's worth of material out of their entire catalog. "Touch and Go" from "Emerson, Lake and Powell" is great.

Norman Phay (Pashmina), Friday, 16 February 2007 10:18 (seventeen years ago) link

(xpost) Haha, yes I can still recall some of the lyrics to Sinfield's Whole Food Boogie: I'm a weird organic diner, life is finer eating naturally!

There's also one called Song of the Sea Goat, it contains the line: suave pirate's words of apricot crawl out of your veneer.

Ahh, Pete...

ILX has loved Tarkus forever!

I never bought anything later than Brain Salad Surgery. I like most ofl the futuristic instrumental music on the early albums, though.

They've got 3 of those bootleg boxed sets in our library, I keep meaning to borrow them.

There's a 1973 live set from Munich floating around the mp3 blogosphere that's killer. ELP could be amazing at times, though a little goes a long way for me.

I want to love ELP. Jim Davidson puts me off. Where to start?

Where to start?

Tarkus cheap on vinyl maybe.

Cheers... Will get. There's a room in my flat (which I just got a while back) with weird tread like marks on the carpet. I figure it was probably just where the Tarkus tank drove over it at some point.
