Did Zack De La Whatever ever release that El-P produced solo record that was in the works for like half-a-dozen years?

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 15 February 2007 22:01 (nineteen years ago)

Maybe Chris Cornell will stop sucking.

David RER (Frank Fiore), Thursday, 15 February 2007 22:01 (nineteen years ago)

yah him and el-p are having a reunion tour.

chaki (chaki), Thursday, 15 February 2007 22:02 (nineteen years ago)

is the dude from candlebox busy?

sir lord baltimore club music (Matt Helgeson), Thursday, 15 February 2007 22:08 (nineteen years ago)

In 2006, Candlebox reunited with their original line-up and embarked on a three-month North American tour from July to October of that year. The band is currently writing and recording material for a new record due for release in 2007.

bohren un der club of gear (bohren un der club of gear), Thursday, 15 February 2007 22:10 (nineteen years ago)

What label would possibly release this monstrosity?

Shakey Mo Collier (Shakey Mo Collier), Thursday, 15 February 2007 22:14 (nineteen years ago)

Haha. What if Cornell and de la Rocha are actually really chill dudes, and the rhythm section guys are huge dicks?

JordanC (JordanC), Thursday, 15 February 2007 22:15 (nineteen years ago)

sorry, but i think everytime either band took the stage it was a stageful of dicks

bohren un der club of gear (bohren un der club of gear), Thursday, 15 February 2007 22:16 (nineteen years ago)

morello seems a bit 'uppity'

chaki (chaki), Thursday, 15 February 2007 22:18 (nineteen years ago)

Did Zack De La Whatever ever release that El-P produced solo record that was in the works for like half-a-dozen years?

Um, didn't he also record with Trent Reznor, ?uestlove, and DJ Shadow during this span of careerlessness as well? Ned wrath ahoy I'm sure but...I was really looking forward to that album.

nklshs (nklshs), Thursday, 15 February 2007 22:33 (nineteen years ago)

AND THEY ALL JOINED GUNS&ROSES

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 15 February 2007 22:40 (nineteen years ago)

One tune with Reznor came out, it was pretty crappy.

JordanC (JordanC), Thursday, 15 February 2007 22:48 (nineteen years ago)

haha I lived in State College for over a decade and I had no idea we had a Gold's Gym. Why does Idolator? Is it new?

RATM should totally play coachella!

even though the first Cornell solo LP was weak, I'm sticking with my theory that Audioslave sucking was all the Rage dudes' fault and that he'll get back to Soundgarden/Temple Of The Dog type awesomeness now. that Bond theme was alright!

Al (Alex In Baltimore), Friday, 16 February 2007 00:51 (nineteen years ago)

I think there is blame enough for Audioslave sucking for everybody.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 16 February 2007 00:56 (nineteen years ago)

Even I feel a little responsible.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 16 February 2007 00:58 (nineteen years ago)

lolz

JordanC (JordanC), Friday, 16 February 2007 01:00 (nineteen years ago)

even though the first Cornell solo LP was weak, I'm sticking with my theory that Audioslave sucking was all the Rage dudes' fault and that he'll get back to Soundgarden/Temple Of The Dog type awesomeness now.

replace "Cornell" with "Hagar" and "Soundgarden/Temple Of The Dog" with "Montrose" to realize how much you're trippin' balls.

m1cc1o (m1cc1o), Friday, 16 February 2007 01:01 (nineteen years ago)

"Audioslave" with "Van Hagar," etc.

m1cc1o (m1cc1o), Friday, 16 February 2007 01:02 (nineteen years ago)

Wait...when did Hagar play with Rage dudes!?!?!? OMG OMG!

nklshs (nklshs), Friday, 16 February 2007 01:03 (nineteen years ago)

god damn your xpost!

nklshs (nklshs), Friday, 16 February 2007 01:03 (nineteen years ago)

m1cc1o (m1cc1o), Friday, 16 February 2007 01:06 (nineteen years ago)

I've defended Van Hagar on ILM before, too! and I'm not gonna argue against your unconditional Cornell hate, but Soundgarden's crazy time signatures and dropped D tunings and squealy guitar solos and hoarse singer = my platonic ideal of bloated mid-90's stadium alt rock.

I still stand my belief that Audioslave would be ten times better if Rod Stewart was the singer/lyricist. Rage meets Faces and MINDS GET BLOWN.

AM is truly tripping his balls off in a frenzy of I don't know what.

He hasn't been right since he ate blotter at the Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert last December.

RATM really were the CYHSY/P!ATD of their time, weren't they?

So much bananas on this thread

rip torn vagina (sandboxhulkington), Friday, 16 February 2007 03:38 (nineteen years ago)

i wonder how many songs i have actually heard by this band? four or five maybe but never a full album despite loving Chris Cornell's voice.

Bee (Bee OK), Friday, 16 February 2007 06:10 (nineteen years ago)

for the record:

Its most recent album, "Revelations," has sold a disappointing 409,000 copies in the United States since its September 2006 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Its self-titled 2002 debut sold 3.1 million copies, and the 2005 follow-up "Out of Exile" 1.1 million.

Bee (Bee OK), Friday, 16 February 2007 06:12 (nineteen years ago)

I'm totally waiting with baited breath for whatever material these guys put out on a major label. Fuck the system, man!

p.s.:

How long do dreadlocks take to grow?

novaheat (novaheat), Friday, 16 February 2007 08:20 (nineteen years ago)

Dreadlocks must be nurtured, not grown.

Matt #2 (Matt #2), Friday, 16 February 2007 10:13 (nineteen years ago)

i still can't believe they lasted three albums!

Ray Cummings (skateboardr), Friday, 16 February 2007 12:52 (nineteen years ago)

I actually kinda like the title track to Revelations that's been on the radio lately. seemed like they rushed that album out with little to no promotion, though.

Al (Alex In Baltimore), Friday, 16 February 2007 14:09 (nineteen years ago)

Maybe they thought getting a track on Best Buy Radio was all the promo the album needed?

I can't believe the 1st album actually sold 3 million.

David RER (Frank Fiore), Friday, 16 February 2007 14:14 (nineteen years ago)

that was all on "Like A Stone" being on VH1 all day for a year, I think. actually, I think I pretty much hated all their big singles but generally enjoyed the ones that only got a little radio play. it was such a worst of both worlds marriage, though.

Al (Alex In Baltimore), Friday, 16 February 2007 14:18 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, it's like the two parts that merged into that fuckstick of a band brought out the worst in each other. The RATM dudes sucked out any of the loopy WTF fun that CC tapped into for those last few SG albums had ("Ty Cobb"! That song about J. Mascis! It couldn't have all been Thayil & Shepherd, right?), turning him into a humorless Jesus Christ poseur. And whatever retarded swing & swagger RATM picked up over the course of their final 2 records got subsumed & mulched into turgid ballad-ready grungefucks.

David RER (Frank Fiore), Friday, 16 February 2007 14:43 (nineteen years ago)

"Ty Cobb" was all Shepherd, actually.

And as for RATM turning him into a humorless Jesus Christ posuer...

m1cc1o (m1cc1o), Friday, 16 February 2007 18:22 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, Shepherd seemed to write a lot of the really good/interesting stuff, "Head Down" might be my favorite Soundgarden song nowadays. are Hater or any of his other projects worth checking out?

Al (Alex In Baltimore), Friday, 16 February 2007 18:27 (nineteen years ago)

at least michael mann has three albums' worth of soundtrack fuel

bohren un der club of gear (bohren un der club of gear), Friday, 16 February 2007 18:31 (nineteen years ago)

Al: Hater is def. work checking out. Dunno about Wellwater Conspiracy, but I think folks have repped for them here before.

I fear I will weep for my misbegotten youf if I see that YouTube clip AM linked to.

David RER (Frank Fiore), Friday, 16 February 2007 18:35 (nineteen years ago)

Hater had a couple of good tunes from what I remember.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 16 February 2007 18:37 (nineteen years ago)

haha I think "Head Down" is everyone's favorite Soundgarden song.

nklshs (nklshs), Friday, 16 February 2007 19:25 (nineteen years ago)

i like "hands all over" a lot.

sir lord baltimore club music (Matt Helgeson), Friday, 16 February 2007 19:45 (nineteen years ago)

'half' has always been one of my favorite soundgarden songs, shepherd wrote that one too
