reading "The True Adventures of the Rolling Stones" by Stanley Booth right now.
really incredible, best rock book ever written IMO, and also sort of transcends being a mere band bio and caputures the death of the 60s and that dream as well as anything this side of Fear & Loathing
basically, Booth seems to have had near total access to the Stones during the entire tour for Let It Bleed that culminates in Altamont
he's a stunning writer, I guess it took him 15 years to write the book, didn't come out till the mid 80s
