How many degrees of separation are you from a Beatle?

Someone is killed in this story, a rum do by all accounts, but they managed to tie in a beatles angle. (She broke into George's house once and nicked some cold pizza from the fridge)

Made me wonder, could they tie anyone into the bugs if they wanted to?

(I'll add mine later)

Is it wrong that my brain instinctively added "SHOCKAH" to the end as I read this?

my mom was trapped in a crowd of Hard Day's Night style fans when she was in England once. The Beatles were there, somewhere, she just couldn't see them (and had no idea what was going on).

Scenario (and separation level): My sisters dancing teacher (and family friend at this point) was schoolfriends with Olivia (Harrison). She'd go over to their Henley house a fair bit, but had only met George once (at this point).

My Mum: "Why don't you give Kim that copy of "I me mine" for George to sign?
Me: "Ach, I'd rather give her my demotape.."
myMum: "YOUWILLDONOSUCHTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

So, I had to claw her off the ceiling and explain I was only joking, and had no intention of asking Kim to do either thing.

Oh, and I did touch Paul's shoulder once, but that's another story (I told already on oldILX)

I sat next to the McCartneys in a Wallasey cinema in 1973 - Paul & Linda had taken the kids to see the reissue of Dumbo. The next film I saw in there was probably Live and Let Die!

As for degrees of sep, oh I dunno. Pete Best is probably my cousin or something.

ON THE ISSUE OF "RAYMOND JONES", THE YOUNG MAN WHO WENT INTO BRIAN EPSTEIN'S STORE AND ORDERED "MY BONNIE":

It appears that "Raymond Jones", who asked Brian Epstein for the record "My Bonnie", is indeed alive and well and living in a farmhouse in Spain! Through information provided by Bob Wooler, Leigh managed to track down Raymond Jones and interviewed him for a spot on the "BBC Radio Merseyside" and Raymond's testimony is found in the book. During the interview, Raymond Jones explains why he is annoyed with Alistair Taylor's recent accounting of the events in the media. As fans will recall, Alistair Taylor, who was Brian Epstein's personal assistant at the time, has claimed that the fictitious person, "Raymond Jones", was himself and that he just made up the name so that Brian would order copies of the Beatles single called "My Bonnie". Brian Epstein did indeed end up ordering copies of "My Bonnie" which is supposedly how Mr. Epstein first became aware of the Beatles.

1. One of my cousins used to play in a band with Giles Martin.

2. My stepmother's third husband was part of the entourage on the Beatles' first tour of the US in 1964.

3. My partner's parents saw the Beatles supporting The Searchers in 1963.

though in my small world, it's pretty damn close to a Beatle.

I'm pretty close to Paul actually !

My brother took part in a performance of part of the Liverpool Oratorio (the school bit), and Paul McCartney was present at all the rehearsals, as well as at the performance (which I think was for Prince Charles?). I went to one rehearsal, and spent the whole time hiding behind adults in order to stare at McCartney, who was my greatest hero at the time.

Cool thread idea! If it's been done before, I've never seen it.

Anyway, the best I can do is 7 or 8 degrees: My GRANDFATHER's boyhood friend was JAMES DOOHAN; who, as (Star Trek's) "Scotty", was a frequent co-star of WILLIAM SHATNER, an occasional guest on "Late Night With DAVID LETTERMAN"; whose musical director PAUL SHAFFER met PRINCE CHARLES (and possibly the QUEEN HERSELF) at Expo '86 in Vancouver; and those royals have certainly had their encounters with the FABS over the years. So, there: about 7-8 degrees. (ILMers who live in England/Scotland would obviously have far less convoluted connections.)

Oh, I forgot! An amendment to my earlier post: A co-worker spent her early years in England, and was barely of school age whe she encountered (under whatever circumstances) the teenaged Princess Elizabeth, to her extreme annoyance. ("She patted me on the head like a dog!"). So: Two degrees to Princess/Queen Liz, and one more makes three total.

I've met members of Duran Duran before, and they worked with Paul McCartney in the original Band Aid lineup (recording "Do They Know It's Christmas?"). More circuitous route to Mr. McCartney/Band Aid: I attended school with Robert Rodriguez's baby brother. Rodriguez has worked many times with this guy named Tito Larriva, who also acted in The Million Dollar Hotel, which Bono (of U2) was somehow involved with, and Bono was also one of the members of the original Band Aid lineup co-featuring -- Mr. McCartney.

In a crazy coincidence, my friend's ex-husband and my uncle's friend are both in Brian Wilson's band. Also, another friend knows (as opposed to 'has met') Morrissey.
I can't state any for-sure connecting from there, but I'll say no more than 4 degrees.

i was at a posh event where Paul was in attendance(with Stumpy) about 5 years ago, and we were both in the vicinity of the bar and he proceeded to give me several dirty looks, checking me out with this disapproving look, wtf? mind, i was fairly inebriated, but i was not acting out in any way while i was near him. to be fair, some of my friends said they went up to him and chatted and he was quite pleasant, i think he even bought one of them a drink, but he totally gave me the stinkeye. he's my least favorite beatle, perhaps he sensed that.....

In October 1995 I went to a poetry event at the Royal Albert Hall, where in the second half Paul was the special guest accompanying Allen Ginsberg on guitar.

After it finished and we were milling round outside, he came up to a group of us and asked us if we'd enjoyed it. He was waiting for his mercedes to arrive.

(Incidentally, he looked a little overweight in real life that day - he must be quite photogenic).

1. I used to go out with a girl who had previously lived with a bloke who had previously been in a relationship with Jane Asher (so, if I've worked this out correctly, that means that I must've fucked someone who'd fucked someone who'd fucked someone who'd fucked Paul McCartney!).

2. I was once in a band (which was based in Henley) with a drummer part of whose drumkit had allegedly been "liberated" from George Harrison's mansion, and with a gutarist who was arrested for spraying "FUCK THE REGATTA" on the garden wall of that same property.

Paul wasn't involved in Band Aid. Live aid, yes...

He was. The original (posted in his contribution), and Band Aid 20 where he played the bass.

So that gives me two degrees of separation if we count tenuous meeting with people he's worked with, i.e. he was on BandAid 20 with
Neil Hannon who I have borrowed a lighter from and Thom Yorke who I have interviewed.
