From Santa:
Otis Redding - Dreams to Remember: The Otis Redding Anthology - Totally awesome. I'm working on mixing it down to one CD, sure to be mind-blowing and soul-crushing.
Pavement - Wowee Zowee: Sordid Sentinels Edition - The biannual tradition continues. Thanks Santa.

From Friends:
Carissa's Wierd - Songs About Leaving
Band of Horses - Everything All the Time
This was a complete surprise. The friend had no idea how hard I looked for Songs About Leaving in NC record stores and I had no idea they knew who Carissa's Wierd is.

Christmas Money/Gift Certificates Appropriations:
Mark Kozelek - Little Drummer Boy - Live - A boring release but I'm loving it.
Method Man - Tical - I lost my copy.

Fuck it !I remember 76/77/78 and the Adverts were the best band around, bar none ( and that includes the Pistols).

I spent at least 20 years of my life wishing I had written Safety in Numbers; and I still do.

T V Smith, you were my gOD (Sic)

Does it dilute my message by saying that I also received (from Santa)the first series of the Monkees? No, of course it doesn't, you Rockist cnuts!!

Boksen - The jury is out (Guilty Boksen), Monday, 1 January 2007 00:50 (seventeen years ago) link

Now that's dedication.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 1 January 2007 00:50 (seventeen years ago) link

But I don't have the live set (which is worth it for the group sharp intake of breath during the "..sliding down the razor blade of life.." sequence from Bright College Days)

Also used Christmas money to buy Faust/So Far.

I got the new Bleach (aka Bleach03, i.e. not the Christian band) album that hasn't come out in the US yet. Has a long Japanese title from the Fiona Apple School of Concise Album Titles and the cover art features little puppet versions of Kanna, Miya and Sayuri.

It's possibly the best album of last year that won't appear on a single US/UK "top-whatever" list; most overlooked album of the year; etc, etc. Also comes with a 3 Song DVD that actually played in my cheap US Region DVD player. Kanna = cutest death-spazz-hardcore lead singer/guitarist evah. Thank you Santa.

I really liked the one Bleach record I heard, glad they're still around.

I didn't get any music but I did get the American Hair Metal book, which is a followup of sorts to American Hardcore. It's readable but very lightweight compared to AH and relies far more on "lol hair is hueg" type yuks than it cares to admit.
