srsly. KILLS ME. especially when he gets to that "I know if you’d seen her you’d tell me ’cause you are my friend" part.

never heard the bobby bare version. is it good? i'd imagine it probably is.

oh yeah. but Roz Cash pwns it for me. Tom T Hall is sooo god.

"if you love somebody enough/you'll follow wherever they go"

Yeah, have we had a Tom T. Hall thread? I need a place to rep for "Homecoming."

yes it's as good as anything ever. so is homecoming -- so much buried inside that song. i need to get some more tom t. i've got just one collection, plus that tribute album to him, which is completely great. kelly willis' version of "memphis" on there kills.

That really is a great tribute album. "Coffee Coffee Coffee" is really good as well as Calexico doing "Tulsa Telephone Book".

that is a fantatic album, johnny cash starts it off, and it goes up hill from that---tulsa telephone book, though is my favourite, because it is perhaps the saddest and msot quixotic thing,

that and margies at the lincoln park in, with all of the pleasure of sex, and domestic comfort, and how he holds both of those in his hand at the same time,

Solomon Burke's version on his new record is rivetting.
Mothra: get The Rhymer and Other Five and Dimers and In Search of a Song. Songwriting doesn't get any better and Jerry Kennedy's sound isn't too shabby either.
