DVD question/video file question

I'm copying a DVD and it contains various files. If I just copy and then upload files with the extension .VOB is that going to even be viewable, or will it just be nothing without the accompanying files on the DVD?

question/question I didn't mean to repeat question

How do I shot .VOB? If I just upload one of these to youtube, it's going to be worthless isn't it? I have to alchemically transform it I assume.

I don't want it in Italian.

Okay, so can anyone recommend a DVD ripper type program? I've found some, but I have no idea what I've downloaded, which makes me a bit nervous. (I mean, I don't know the source for this stuff, so who knows?)

DVD Shrink is an easy to use ripper. YouTube says they recommend uploading Divx or Xvid files, so you could use AutoGK to convert to those formats.

...but I'm not sure

I downloaded a couple but they both will only do 10 minutes at a time. (Actually that would be fine for the purpose I have in mind, but I'm not sure if I can skip ahead. I will need to investigate.)

x-post, thanks.

(...about AutoGK, I mean - I haven't used it before, but a friend of mine does) xpost

How do I use this DVD Shrink to chop a video into shorter segments (or don't I?).

Is there something someone can recommend that will do that?

Yes, you are my tech. desk.

Why couldn't I have been an RTF major like everyone else who went to Temple University when I did?

I am creating these edited files but I have no idea what their names are or what type of files they are or where they are going.

Hmmm, looking at some online help related to this, it seems like it might be a lot more complicated than I had expected.

I think this is going to work. AoA DVD Ripper.
