Can anyone recommend me an instrumental jazz song with a lot of good piano in it,?

I can hear a piano line in my head that I've never heard before. Which means I'd have to try to play it on piano myself and record it. But I don't have access to a piano anymore. It's an upbeat, happy song.

Please recommend me a nice upbeat jazz song with great piano in it.

The only thing that comes to mind for me is David Sylvian's Blue of Noon. But I don't want that, I want something more upbeat. Even funky. Funky is okay. But non-funky is just fine, too.

It sounds like you might want something with Lyle Mays and the Pat Metheny Group, though Lyle's about as funky as a...ummm...as clean, fresh socks. Like, never-worn. EX+ condition. Will take Paypal.

Or, if you want actual jazz, you could try the version of "Billy Boy" that's on, I think, "Milestones" by Miles Davis.

Also, there's an album by the McCoy Tyner - Jackie McLean Quintet called "It's About That Time" that has a song, maybe the title track, that's along the lines you mean.

Also, try some Don Pullen. And Gonzalo Rubalcaba, maybe.

Or the title track off this.

Don Pullen! Wow I haven't thought about him in a long, long while.

I called my friend with the piano...and I taped myself singing the notes into a tape recorder. I'm going to try to play what I'm hearing in my head on a piano, and tape it. That's the goal.

Also you mentioned Pat Metheny Group. I bought that album they did circa 1987 or 88 and loved it.

That first post is sort of a weird request - it's like "Can you recommend me the music of my mind?"

Oh, come on now, Hurting! How many jazz records even USE piano?

yeah, it's a little odd. plus, upbeat jazz piano? um, you might want to narrow that down a bit.

It would be so great if this got recorded and it just turned out to be Linus and Lucy.
