i'd go with 1-2-3 but transmaniacon is fun to jam, too.

i've been jamming "thank you" real hard lately.

after Accellerator, though, Transmaniacon or Pound for Pound will make good sense. Or maybe 3-song EP, since that was immed. after Accelerator and was the band they were touring with then and is pretty good, but also more back to Sw. 16/Thank You sorta sound.

There is no bad Royal Trux album. The RTX album is amazing too.

yeah it is really cool! been listening to that a lot.

tylerw_sandbox, Friday, 16 December 2011 16:05 (twelve years ago) link

it's great to have on in one room while you shuffle around the house, you can still hear the guitar backbeats & then just drift in once in a while to check in w/whatever nmh's talkin about

?! didn't even know there was a new one! has he changed direction from Earth Junk? I thought that one was okay but it isn't really something I want to listen to all that much - if he was trying to make a mexican polka record he shoulda made it with more oomph

Meanwhile, The Avlanches just announced via Twitter that they did a song with Jennifer Herrema entitled "The Stepkids".

yeah it came kinda hot on the heels of his audiobook, which oddly enough prob got more press; new LP 'wilson semiconductors', basically a duo record?, four long (prob 10 min) songs that zig-zag around a lot against a guitar backbeat. occasional shredding interludes. i like more than earth junk i think because it has a really great guitar-bop all the way through, the songs are real good, & neil's singing's real nice, but they also works as nice guitar jams, cf my "you can putt putt around the house to it" endorsement. the mexican polka influence is still totally there - there was a nice interview (either on the FMU blog or in bombd) where he talked about how living in NM has p much changed his palette & musical interests. & so it's spiky dancy hex. idk, i love so many of their lps, i came back to you can't beat tomorrow recently, loved a bunch of different songs on it from the ones i used to love. they're just such a great loose group.

also this is the first time i have been cursing DC for not including download codes, i would usually rather just grab rips anyway rather than fuss with codes, but seemingly no enterprising bloggers/slskers have pirated it yet.

Never translate German (schlump), Saturday, 17 December 2011 00:29 (twelve years ago) link

yeah what is up with Drag City not doing that...

I really did not dig All Night Fox or Earth Junk so maybe I would like this more.

sleeve sandbox, Saturday, 17 December 2011 01:06 (twelve years ago) link

it's p different from both, feel like it is a roll of the dice which you are gonna like rather than nec a taste thing.

all night fox is awesome though so i guess stfu also, i guess. in my head activity risks was number one in a hundred countries for a lot of the last decade
