anyone else read the piece on paul nelson by neil strauss in the current RS?

it's really good. and long! i'm really impressed that they gave up that much space to tell his story. and strauss almost makes up for the game by telling the tale so well. okay, maybe not, he would have to pay us all money for that to be true, but it's simply a good straight-up piece.

interesting how he crossed the fence from music critic to major label music-bizzer and back again. but why do so many pro music lovers end up (cf. bangs & meltzer)isolated and embittered?

whatever the motivation -- guilt?-- it was nice to see this thing in Rolling Stone where Nelson did his best work. tho it took me so long to read on the newstand the counter-dude told me to buy or split and I was so bummed by the article I had to tell him to fuck off.

It's a great piece, and I wept reading it. Somebody should have been looking after him every day, but our mental healthcare safety net is in tatters.
