M Grout (Mark Grout), Monday, 18 December 2006 14:02 (seventeen years ago) link

Still there it is.

StanM (StanM), Monday, 18 December 2006 14:26 (seventeen years ago) link

GOOD!!! she should stick to doing what she does best, getting half naked on her videos...Can u imgine her at glastonbury? fuckin hell man i know shes been through some shit the past year but nah, that would wrong her at a festival like that.

delete the UK etc.

sede vacante (blueski), Monday, 18 December 2006 14:34 (seventeen years ago) link

altho he may be right that it would wrong her

sede vacante (blueski), Monday, 18 December 2006 14:35 (seventeen years ago) link

"Kylie Minogue will the play Cameron election rally"

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Monday, 18 December 2006 14:35 (seventeen years ago) link

She never him!

M Grout (Mark Grout), Monday, 18 December 2006 14:37 (seventeen years ago) link

And still not the changed been has it.

StanM (StanM), Monday, 18 December 2006 14:44 (seventeen years ago) link

So does this thread exist because of a typo, or because Kylie not playing the festival is worth discussing? Because if it's the article, there are worse things wrong with it.... like the fact they acknowledge that Michael Eavis is the head of the festival in paragraph two, but the rest of it seems to be quotes from some Emily Eavis who remains unidentified.

mh (mike h.), Monday, 18 December 2006 14:54 (seventeen years ago) link

Would not the power of basic logical thought lead you to suspect a connection of some obscure kind between the two?

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Monday, 18 December 2006 14:56 (seventeen years ago) link

'who the fuck let girls aloud in here?' is an article in this week's nme.

temporary enrique (temporary enrique), Monday, 18 December 2006 14:56 (seventeen years ago) link

Well, if you like, I could start another thread discussing the other aspect of this.

xpost Article, or Letter?

M Grout (Mark Grout), Monday, 18 December 2006 14:57 (seventeen years ago) link

Emily Eavis is his mother, I think.

StanM (StanM), Monday, 18 December 2006 14:57 (seventeen years ago) link

Well yeah, I could go out on a limb and say they're related, but that doesn't mean it's good writing. Is she co-coordinator, or did Michael just let his wife (correction, mother?) answer the phone this morning and field questions?

x-post

mh (mike h.), Monday, 18 December 2006 14:58 (seventeen years ago) link

it doesn't say that she has any power -- miguel is 'festival chief', but what's her role?

temporary enrique (temporary enrique), Monday, 18 December 2006 14:59 (seventeen years ago) link

(I wish I'd said grandmother now)

StanM (StanM), Monday, 18 December 2006 15:00 (seventeen years ago) link

There's lots of indie love for kylie, she'll be fine. I'm almost certain her set will be terrible, but I bet it'll go down okay.

Johnney B has zeros off the line (stigoftdumpilx), Monday, 18 December 2006 15:01 (seventeen years ago) link

erm but she isn't playing.

temporary enrique (temporary enrique), Monday, 18 December 2006 15:04 (seventeen years ago) link

OTM, it's hard work.

StanM (StanM), Monday, 18 December 2006 15:05 (seventeen years ago) link

Emily's his ruddy daughter man!

Not:

Michael: Ooh, I'd like Kylie to play, please!
Emily: No you're not! She's a very naughty girl!

M Grout (Mark Grout), Monday, 18 December 2006 15:16 (seventeen years ago) link

Michael: Cor blimey Oi'd loike Kylie to play in moi fields, she's a roight bit o' stuff an' all ar har!
Emily: No you wouldn't, for she is Tory scum.
Michael: Off with 'er 'ead! Did Wat Bonnie Tyler die in vain?

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Monday, 18 December 2006 15:19 (seventeen years ago) link

why should we know who this fucking guy's daughter is? and even then, they don't say 'effective show runner emily eavis'; they just assume.

and to assume is to make an ass out of u and me.

temporary enrique (temporary enrique), Monday, 18 December 2006 15:20 (seventeen years ago) link

in a very selfish mood - i'm glad she aint playing.
if she was to headline i would have been soooo very upset at the fact i cant go this year (her proposed headline in 05 was one of my primary reasons to get the signoff on the homefront to experience 5 days of unadulterated kid free selfish pleasure)

mark e (mark e), Monday, 18 December 2006 15:21 (seventeen years ago) link

He is a widower, he's not fucking anyone. Or maybe he is. Not Kylie though, prob.

M Grout (Mark Grout), Monday, 18 December 2006 15:22 (seventeen years ago) link

why should we know who henry k miller is? that's just assuming he's somebody.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Monday, 18 December 2006 15:24 (seventeen years ago) link

Yeh, but if she were . . . oh, fuggetit.

Johnney B has zeros off the line (stigoftdumpilx), Monday, 18 December 2006 15:26 (seventeen years ago) link

5 hours later: typo is still there. (front page too)

StanM (StanM), Monday, 18 December 2006 18:01 (seventeen years ago) link

did they ever confirm the identity of the big mystery band was that is playing glastonbury but hasn't played together in 30 years?

akm (akmonday), Monday, 18 December 2006 23:32 (seventeen years ago) link

Oh god they better not replace her with Basement Jaxx again.

editio princeps (pato.g27), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 04:50 (seventeen years ago) link

I thought it was Genesis, but when they were "Oh, Peter can't make it" Michael showed them the door.

M Grout (Mark Grout), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 08:37 (seventeen years ago) link

Especially when he heard the addendum "but we've had confirmation from that guy out of Stiltskin!"

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 08:41 (seventeen years ago) link

ominous statement about this year's fest not being dominated by headliners. i mean they never have a bill that in any way rivals say BENICASSIM but for him 2 actually admit so 5 months ahead of the fest...god who's he got coming?!

damien (piscesboy), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 12:10 (seventeen years ago) link

Female duo, currently doing well on downloads probably.

M Grout (Mark Grout), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 12:12 (seventeen years ago) link

Ooh, they have fixed the headline.

M Grout (Mark Grout), Tuesday, 19 December 2006 12:15 (seventeen years ago) link

Kasabian play 'best show ever' in London
---
Kasabian played one of their biggest indoor shows ever tonight (December 19) in London...Rounding off the show with 'LSF' a visibly moved Meighan added: "This has been the best gig we have ever done I swear to God. Merry Chrismas and a Happy New Year. We'll see you at Glastonbury yeah."
-----

(bangs head on desk)

piscesboy (piscesboy), Wednesday, 20 December 2006 10:42 (seventeen years ago) link

Considering Eavis usually bangs on and on about how amazing the headliners will be for months beforehand (even if they aren't), this either means:

a) They haven't actually managed to book anyone yet
b) The headliners will actually be good this year
c) Keane, Kasabian and Muse will headline

Right now, I'm going for C.

As previously reported, Coldplay are set to mount a South American early next year.

Keane, Kasabian, Muse? NO NO NO NO NO

Keane
Rod Stewart
Chemical Brothers

Most likely.

Either way, as ever, I won't be seeing any of them

Nick Christian (Uptoeleven), Thursday, 21 December 2006 13:19 (seventeen years ago) link

kasabian
arctic monkeys
sugababes

piscesboy (piscesboy), Thursday, 21 December 2006 13:42 (seventeen years ago) link

Oooh, cold.

Johnney B has zeros off the line (stigoftdumpilx), Thursday, 21 December 2006 15:14 (seventeen years ago) link

Kasabian it probably will be. but Eavis likes the new band/old band/pop(or popular dance) Friday/Saturday/Sunday formula so not Arctic Monkeys as well. Sugababes could have done it a few years ago but not anymore.

You'll need to try harder than that Les.

Especially given the current creative fertility of house and techno music!
