what's with things leaking light-years before their release?

ChristoC (Christo C), Monday, 18 December 2006 06:02 (seventeen years ago) link

It happens a lot especially at the end of the year because of the holidays...print media needs extra time to cover early '07 releases.

But yeah, the Air album is quite nice. Maybe more downtempo than I was expecting, but who's complaining? Not me.

Johnny Fever (johnnyfever), Monday, 18 December 2006 06:07 (seventeen years ago) link

MORE downtempo? ha ha. are there less drums?

sede vacante (blueski), Monday, 18 December 2006 11:03 (seventeen years ago) link

downtempo air... has the world gone mad?

temporary enrique (temporary enrique), Monday, 18 December 2006 11:05 (seventeen years ago) link

So no rhymes? I thought for sure THIS would be the album that JB finally drops some mad rhymes. But there are still Moogs, right?

:)

Seriously though, how is it? I like Air, but the new Darkel album SUCKED. It was like Air-lite, if that was possible.

Taking the piss, I see.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 20 December 2006 03:16 (seventeen years ago) link

This isn't bubblegum Timbaland but it's all proggy and mellow and there's a couple moments that sound like bubblegum Boards of Canada instead, which works. Gruff Rhys does vocals on a track, which also works. I'm not huge on the Dunckel singing voice, which can be great sometimes ("Surfin' on a Rocket" or "Run") but can also be all soupy and Muppetish (the Darkel thing), but I'm thinking the tracks where it grates on me (of which there are four) are growers.

Oh nice. I kinda think Air keep getting less interesting with time but this could be good.
