Click here for the US iTMS. It's not previously released as far as I know, but it sounds like Deep Cuts and its cover is in the style of the self-titled album, so I have no idea when it was recorded. It's great though, jolly but vaguely sinister.

Oh yes, should've mentioned for those who can't access the US itunes: it's called "Christmas Reindeer." I'd YSI/Soulseek it for overseas peoples but I don't think there's a workaround for Apple's current DRM scheme yet.

it's on a compilation CD called "a very indie christmas" right?

Is "A Very Indie xmas" a legit compilation? I can't seem to find any information about it, except this tracklist of previously available (as far as I can tell, but I don't know where the Knife track came from) but maybe rare Christmassy tracks:

01 - the walkmen - no christmas while i'm talking
02 - low - silent night
03 - bright eyes and friends - silver bells
04 - belle and sebastian - christmas time is here
05 - of montreal - christmas isn't safe for animals
06 - yo la tengo - it's christmas time
07 - palace songs - christmastime in the mountains
08 - the flaming lips - a change at christmas [say it isn't so]
09 - aereogramme - asthma came home for christmas
10 - mark kozelek - white christmas
11 - melt banana - white christmas
12 - kind of like spitting - tyco racing set and a christmas story fifteen times
13 - save ferris - christmas wrapping
14 - smashing pumpkins - christmastime
15 - the knife - christmas reindeer
16 - eels - christmas is going to the dogs
17 - weezer - the christmas song
18 - aislers set - christmas song
19 - pedro the lion - the first noel
20 - jimmy eat world - last christmas
21 - cocteau twins - frosty the snowman
22 - destroyer - every christmas

Pretty sure that's a) more than would fit on a single CD, and b) more money than anyone would be willing to spend licensing songs for a holiday compilation.

a) about 75 minutes b) maybe it's for a charity/good cause?

True, it's possible, but I can't find any info online and I'd expect a project with names like this involved would be getting a fair amount of press...

Probably a blogger's collection, none of the tracks I google are new/unique to this (except that Knife one? but that's a remix of an old track)

CHRISTMAS REINDEER
Hi all,
Now it's time again for The Knife's annual christmas track "Christmas Reindeer", recorded in 2000, to be downloaded! It's a bit like the "Reindeer" version from the first album but with bells and no guitar solo (for you who miss that one especially, you know where to find it.)

Most of the other tracks are from compilations, B-sides or EP's, no idea where that particular came from.
