TITTWW wonder why the Cudgels didn't set the indie world afire

listening to the Cudgels' God's Children. yeah, the old WAAAAAAH! Cudgels. this little album of theirs is like the perfect marriage of Lazy-era MBV and pre-rave Primal Scream. with better songs and craft than either. it should have been like sweet, sweet honey to anyone wearing an anorak at the time. but, instead, now they're gone and forgotten. what went wrong?

so, i love them, and i feel so alone, because the world seems to have snubbed this band like so much cold cat-food-grade tuna fish, so there's not much to be found about them anywhere, and i really just need someone to concur. and maybe give me a hug.

i didn't think the album was that great. they remind of the popguns. people seem to praise both but i wonder if they really mean it.

the three popguns singles i have are pretty good, but i don't have any of their later things

The album was apppallingly produced, but they had some very good songs. Much better live, really.

it's one of those albums you find used and think you've made a great score but then you realize why it was only 3 dollars in a hurry.

wow, keith. did the Cudgels' run their tour van over your puppy repeatedly and deliberately?

i couldn't disagree more. it's a great little record, one which i'd wager many here would love it if they heard it. and i really mean it. no problems with the production, either.
